Job Description

A unique opportunity to become part of a startup engineering firm! Xcelsior Engineering, based out of Denver, CO, is currently seeking a Mid-Level to Senior-Level Civil Engineer. However, the main role of the Civil Engineer is to plan, design and implement a wide variety of projects including demolition plans, erosion control & sediment design, drainage reports and plans, site plans and layout, grading and earthwork, and utility design. Participate in all phases of project planning, design, cost estimating and even construction administration.


Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
5-10 years of civil engineering experience in land development or civil engineering specialty.
Must be able to work both independently and in a team setting. Must also have the ability to work on fast-paced, dynamic projects.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preparation of design details, schematics, and engineering specifications.
Coordination with other project disciplines including structural, architectural, geotechnical, surveying, and other aspects of a project.
Preparation of quantity and cost estimates.
Analyze engineering data, prepare design calculations, interpret plans and specifications, and make sound decisions.
Collaborate with other engineers, subconsultants, contractors, cities/districts, regulatory agencies and funding agencies on projects.
Periodic fieldwork including construction observation and administration.
Interact with government agencies for regulatory permits, crossing agreements, easements, encroachments and other necessary project requirements.
Attend public meetings, public forums and open-house events to discuss project details and answer questions from the public, as required.
Attend District, Town and City meetings, as required.
Utilize design and communication tools such as AutoCAD Civil3D, Microstation, ArcGIS, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint.
Prepare project proposals, comprehensive project reports and prepare project documentation.


Preferred Qualifications

7+ years of experience in Civil Engineering or equivalent fields.
Certification as a professional engineer in Colorado, or the ability to acquire within 6 months.

The compensation for this job is highly dependent on what the candidate can bring to the table. Those who can bring work to the company or prepare Construction Documents with little oversight will be compensated at a higher pay rate than those who require a higher level of management or may be new to the industry.
