Volans-i provides fast on-demand aerial delivery service for time-critical shipments over long ranges. We build and operate long-range, high-payload drones for commercial, defense, and humanitarian applications. Leveraging drone technology as a transportation method, we help our customers gain control of their supply chain and save millions of dollars on downtime and inventory costs.
 
Our work came from the immediate need for critical delivery of parts to drastically reduce downtime for an automotive company. From this idea, our founders have scaled the company into a team of highly skilled and motivated individuals to serve critical delivery markets.

We are looking for Perception / Computer Vision candidates who are self-motivated individuals with a burning desire to constantly push the known boundaries of technology to create the next generation of delivery platforms. This position will design, implement, and test flight controls for vertical-take-off-and-landing fixed-wing aircraft with a highly-motivated, results-driven international team.
 
 
 
What you will do:
 
+       Build sophisticated Perception systems tightly integrated with flight control systems.  You will build the perception system for flying robots navigating through a variety of challenging scenarios.
+       Break down complex perception behaviors into a series of milestones that build toward the goal
+       Ideating potential solutions to Perception problems and evaluating them for robustness in a variety of scenarios
+       Collaborating with the Perception team and with the broader Robotics team to iteratively improve the performance of our flying robots.
+       Help drive the team toward best practices in software reliability, configuration management, and measurable performance improvements.
 
Required:
 
+       Experience developing multiple systems using OpenCV or an equivalent machine vision software stack, including developing novel improvements to visual perception capabilities.
+       Experience with optical flow, visual-inertial odometry
+       Experience with programming languages commonly used with Perception such as C++, Python, Rust
+       Track record of fast iteration to deploy solutions in the real world
+       Experience designing and building tools for testing and evaluation of proposed Perception solutions
+       Experience building GPU-based image processing pipelines.
+       Experience with ROS (ROS2 desirable), Gazebo simulation
 
 
Desirable Experience:
 
+       Nvidia CUDA, TensorRT
+       Machine Learning applied to visual classification
+       Optical flow
+       Image processing and filters
+       Direct experience qualifying and specifying cameras to attach to Nvidia Jetson-based systems
+       Experience acting as a technical lead or managing people is a bonus
+       Developing customized Kalman filters
+       Experience with flying robotic systems
+       Ability to test fly drones indoors and out, in order to test Perception innovations
