Volans-i provides fast on-demand aerial delivery service for time-critical shipments over long ranges. We build and operate long-range, high-payload drones for commercial, defense, and humanitarian applications. Leveraging drone technology as a transportation method, we help our customers gain control of their supply chain and save millions of dollars on downtime and inventory costs.
 
Our work came from the immediate need for critical delivery of parts to drastically reduce downtime for an automotive company. From this idea, our founders have scaled the company into a team of highly skilled and motivated individuals to serve critical delivery markets.

We are looking for Flight Controls Engineer candidates who are self-motivated individuals with a burning desire to constantly push the known boundaries of technology to create the next generation of delivery platforms. This position will design, implement, and test flight controls for vertical-take-off-and-landing fixed-wing aircraft with a highly-motivated, results-driven international team.
 
  
What you will do:
 +Implementation of new software or algorithms to support mission-specific capabilities
+Integration of sensors in aircraft’s state estimator
+Development of guides, instructions, and training materials for the flight operations team
+Post flight data review
+Support development and certification of aircraft
+Develop and maintain flight controls regression test-suite
  
Required:
 +Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field, such as Aeronautical, Mechanical, Software, or Controls Engineering
+Proficient in C++ and Python
+Development experience with ArduPilot or PX4
+Experience with Git or SVN
+Proficiency with Linux
+Hands-on experience applying classical or modern control theory to an autonomous system
 
 Desired:
 +2+ years of professional experience with classical dynamics, modeling and simulation, and developing controls solutions in C++ and Python
+Experience implementing controls algorithms based on scientific publications
+Creation of robotics models in ROS
+Excellent written and verbal communication skills
