Volans-i provides fast on-demand aerial delivery service for time-critical shipments over long ranges. We build and operate long-range, high-payload drones for commercial, defense, and humanitarian applications. Leveraging drone technology as a transportation method, we help our customers gain control of their supply chain and save millions of dollars on downtime and inventory costs.
Our work came from the immediate need for critical delivery of parts to drastically reduce downtime for an automotive company. From this idea, our founders have scaled the company into a team of highly skilled and motivated individuals to serve critical delivery markets.
We are looking for Mechanical Design Engineer candidates who are self-motivated individuals with a burning desire to constantly push the known boundaries of technology to create the next generation of delivery platforms. This position requires a professional with strong product design expertise and strong skills in CAD.
What you will do:
+ Initial layout, sizing and optimization of systems.
+ Design of complex, flight critical electromechanical assemblies.
+ Integration of precision sensor components into airframe.
+ Creation and maintenance of technical drawings and bill of materials.
+ Design of complicated mechanisms, linkages, actuators, etc.
+ Direct communication with vendors and technicians in manufacturing.
+ B.S. in mechanical engineering or another relevant discipline.
+ 2+ years of working experience in relevant industry.
+ Excellent problem solving, teamwork and communication skills.
+ Experience with hands-on design and testing.
+ Proficiency in mechanical design, materials selection, kinematics, troubleshooting and analysis.
+ Strong volumetric awareness.
+ Strong analytical background.
+ Proficiency with CAD.
+ M.S. in mechanical engineering or related field.
+ 5+ years of working experience in relevant industry.
+ Experience with unmanned aircraft systems and prototyping of UAV components.
+ Capability to run FEA at past and system level.
+ Experience with composites and other weight-optimized structures.
+ Knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes for production and prototype.
