Backend Engineer

Viva Translate is seeking passionate individuals to join our team of ML researchers & engineers from top institutions such as Google and Stanford. We are creating a world where language is no longer a barrier to work and opportunity, and we are starting across Latin America.

What you'll be doing

• Write clean, scalable & efficient code
• Integrate user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server-side logic
• Build reusable code libraries for future use
• Design and implement RESTful APIs
• Optimize the performance of applications for full-scale production deployments
• Provide code documentation and other inputs to technical documents
• Participate in code reviews
• Set up and execute deployment processes and error monitoring (Sentry)
• Perform troubleshooting and debugging to optimize performance

Must-have skills 💪

• 4+ years of experience as a Backend Engineer or similar positions
• Knowledge of Python, JavaScript, Typescript, Node.js, Express, Django, REST APIs.
• Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases
• Data migration, transformation, and scripting
• Experience in container systems (Docker), microservices, GIT version control, CI/CD, and working in high-performance environments
• Comfortable working in a highly agile, intensely iterative software development process
• Positive and solution-oriented mindset
• An inclination towards communication, inclusion, and visibility
• Demonstrated capacity to clearly and concisely communicate about complex technical, architectural, and/or organizational problems and propose thorough iterative solutions

Nice to haves 🍒

• Experience with frontend technologies such as React, Redux, Vuejs, etc.
• Experience with Websockets, Socket.io, WebRTC based technologies
• Experience with cloud services (AWS, Google)
• Familiar with DevOps
