We are looking for a rising controls engineer to join our team this summer as an intern. In this roll you will develop controls and planning software that interfaces with our electronics and hardware. This roll mostly concerns software and planning for robotics and mechatronics systems. Alongside other engineers you would develop controls for a variety of unique actuators, motion planning for actuators in our system, and collaborate with the both mechanical and software teams. We’re looking for someone with experience in robotics and automation who is excited about the risks and rewards of joining a seed-funded startup.

What We’re Building:
We’ve developed a proprietary and patent-pending technology at the crossroads of 3D printing and automated textile manufacturing. By skipping the flat 2D fabric stage, we can additively build custom apparel products from the ground up- straight from yarn to final product. About You:
You are a current grad student looking for a foot hold in automation. You like designing and implementing controls and high-level automation software for brand new untested systems. You have figured out the optimal way to get to attend classes by applying path planning to your daily routine. You prefer high level python programming, but have no problem dipping down into embedded systems and getting your hands dirty with C or C++. You have considered adding closed loop control to your coffee machine. You enjoy thinking three-dimensionally, and problems with no obvious answer excite you. You’re fascinated with the intersection of art and engineering, and continuous learning is a fundamental part of who you are. You are energized by working on hard problems within an evolving R&D environment.

You will:
•Modify, update, and extend intelligent controls on our computer systems.
•Develop tests and procedures for validation and integration of new control methodologies
•Integrate and tune control systems for custom hardware
•Communicate with other engineers on the hardware and software team.
•Write and maintain documentation.

•BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related fields with 0 to 2 years experience.
•Current Grad Student in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related fields
•Experience with Python and UI development
•Experience with C and C++
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Willing to do hands-on experiments and testing

Nice to haves:
•Knowledge of linear and non linear control techniques such as PID/LQR/FOC/LQE/LQG
•Knowledge of motion planning software
•Experience with ROS
•Experience in embedded systems and microcontroller programming (ARM preferred).
•Experience with industrial electrical systems or controls hardware
•Experience with microcontroller assembly (ARM)
•Knowledge of Real-time Operating Systems on microcontrollers (RTOS)
