The Role

The Business Systems Analyst is a technical BA position that combines Business Analysis skills with deeper technical expertise. The Business Systems Analyst analyzes and evaluates business systems and user needs. They document requirements, define scope and objectives and formulate systems to parallel overall business strategies.


As a Business Systems Analyst, you will…

• Build consensus and facilitate dialogue with project managers, developers, colleagues and business users
• Work with developers to create functional specifications and build mock-ups of proposed solutions
• Elicit requirements, analyze, understand, document, and improve systems and processes
• Communicate regularly with stakeholders and executives on project status, needs, and milestones
• Act as an internal business area expert and champion
• Review and analyze customer requests, product functionality and enhancements
• Lead and execute technical projects as required as well as Investigate and resolve system or data issues that surface from the business
• Rotate in for light technical support duties in a tiered product support model

The experience we need…

• Basic programming and SQL skills – you love applying technology to solve challenging problems
• Working knowledge of databases and their structure
• ERP experience is a must
• Very strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong analytical and business process modeling skills
• Consulting skills with the ability to influence, advise, mediate and control scope
• A service-oriented customer focus – do what it takes to solve customer and business problems

Bonus Points if you have the following…

• Familiarity with Microsoft technologies
• Intermediate database design skills a strong plus
• ERP experience with a finance focus is a big plus
• Minimum 5 years of technology-related work experience
Work Environment…
• Open office embedded with the Business Solutions team
• Occasional short trips usually to Head office (Downtown to Richmond) and very occasionally to other locations in BC (approx 5%)
• Flexible schedule based around core hours
