Director of Media Sales

Responsible for:
- Selling ad space in The Outdoor Journal's online, video and print products.
- Creating revenue-generating partnerships with appropriate brands and companies
- Identifying, contacting and communicating with potential advertisers and media buyers.
- Creating new and innovative campaigns to pitch to advertisers.
- Creating and executing branding, marketing and other promotional concepts for the magazine, in partnership with advertisers.
- Identifying and perfecting new avenues for advertising revenue within the framework of the product
- Working with the senior team to develop documentation that will support the sales process.

- A highly motivated, ambitious self-starter able to function within a chaotic startup environment
- Highly autonomous, able to multi-task and take initiatives without requiring a direction from senior managers
- Goal-oriented, with a willingness and ability to work long hours and unsociable times if required.
- Ability to analyze information gathered from various sources.
- An understanding of print and online media and its advertising environment.
- An understanding of new media, videos and websites, social media marketing, website analytics and metrics.

Qualifications & experience:
- Experience in travel, outdoor and/or lifestyle publications or online media.
- Strong contacts with advertisers in travel, outdoor sports, active lifestyle, automotive, luxury or other sectors.
- Familiarity and knowledge of appropriate desktop programs and cloud applications. Familiarity with the Adobe CS suite, Content Management Systems and the technical details behind advertising design and distribution is a plus.
- Must have own laptop and mobile phone.

The ideal candidate is passionate about and practices one or more outdoor or adventure sports, such as climbing, skiing, paragliding, surfing, kayaking, diving and/or mainstream individual sports such as running or biking.

This role is commission only.
