Next-gen social media network for the purpose driven generation
Founding UI/UX Engineer - iOS0.5% – 5.0%
TAG is a next-gen social network for the purpose-driven generation. From environmental conservation to mental health, from wildlife protection to civic engagement, from voter turnout to climate strikes, TAG lets you create viral campaigns for progressive causes that matter to you. With TAG you can create and organize communities, reward members for taking action and measure collective impact.
Who we are
We are a tiny and productive team operating in stealth mode, with a strong background in shipping consumer products for a broad range of industries. We studied engineering at Stanford and IIT, built early products at Amazon and Samsung, are passionate about product design and naively believe that those who think they can change the world, are the ones who do. We launched on the appstore a few weeks ago and have received exciting feedback on our concept and product. We now need your help in iterating on the user experience and achieving product-market fit.
We are not funded yet, but believe that where there is a solid product, fame and funding follow. We are looking to add the first founding team members to our fast-paced, results-oriented team.
Who you are
You like to build and ship.
You have a bias towards action—favoring practical choices and speed rather than being religious about any one technology. You focus on the things that matter and push back on things that don’t. You make deadlines for yourself and you move fast.
You are experienced.
You have deep expertise building in the Apple ecosystem and you understand the ins and outs of Xcode, Swift, Autolayouts, RxSwift and more. You are also a fullstack engineer who has experience working with Parse Platform. While you love learning new technologies, this is not an area where you need to ramp up.
You’re scrappy and entrepreneurial.
You thrive in fast-paced environments and are comfortable with not knowing the answer to something. You value things like user testing, community-building, and operations. If you haven’t already started your own company, you think you might like to in the future.
*You care about good product design.
*You have an eye for good design and pixel perfection. You like thinking about user psychology and sharing little-known products with your friends. You want to build experiences that users love and that make people’s lives more meaningful.
You take pride in what you do.
If you have a spec, you read through the details and think about every edge case. You understand how to build observability to monitor performance and identify issues early. If something seems off, you come up with a good solution and fix it without being asked to do so. You’re proactive with suggestions and people know they can count on you to get things done.
You enjoy working hard.
You love what you do, think about it in your free time, and often find yourself building at strange hours—not because you feel you have to, but because you’re so excited to create something big for the world. Your favorite thing to do is to take on a huge challenge and pull it off.
You have good values.
You care about doing the right thing. You value diversity and go out of your way to ensure others feel welcome. You enjoy hanging out with your teammates, are low-ego, and make the workplace more fun for everyone.
What you will do
You’ll ship product.
At TAG, we move fast and you will maintain that pace for us. Whether it’s pushing a bug fix immediately after seeing it or architecting a bigger change that will help TAG scale to millions of users, you’ll constantly be building and shipping. Along the way, you’ll write clean and efficient code, do unit tests, follow best practices, improve our infrastructure and tooling and have the benefit of working with others who share your enthusiasm.
You’ll contribute in all areas.
You might choose to go deep in one aspect of the product, but like your teammates you’ll make a habit of working across the stack, frequently picking up new languages and platforms as needed.
You’ll grow and improve rapidly.
At TAG you’ll be working with some of the smartest people you’ve ever met, who love to learn from and teach each other. You’ll find yourself stretching to new areas, immersed in feedback, challenged by your teammates, and growing your skills on a daily basis.
You’ll shape the product strategy.
You will get to use your own product (and talk with others while they are using it) every day, and have significant input into its development. Your ideas will always be heard.
You’ll learn about company-building.
From fundraising, to recruiting, to negotiating our office lease post-COVID, you’ll have exposure to all aspects of growing and running an early stage startup. Along the way, you’ll get connected with mentors and advisors who can help you for the rest of your career. We firmly believe in helping our team achieve work-life balance and support remote working. No matter where you are in the world, we will build this product, culture and company together.
You’ll create something meaningful.
We are tired of mindless scrolling, passive content consumption and digital addiction. We are building a platform for our communities to connect around causes, causes that matter right now, take action and influence corporate and policy decisions. At TAG, you’ll be our partner in crime in figuring out how to empower the purpose driven generation in starting their own movement and affect the change the want to see in the world.
As a founding team member at TAG, you will be a critical part of our core team and have a meaningful say in the direction of the product. We will initially compensate you with equity, followed by cash+equity combo upon funding, we commit to invest deeply in your professional development, and do everything we can to make sure this is the single best work experience of your life.
If you think you might be a good fit for our team, we’d love to hear from you.
