Swivl is the world leader in classroom video technology with educational products and tools that are easy-to-use, fun to implement, and sustainable for schools. Our award-winning video tools are used for instructional coaching, professional development, distance learning; however, new use cases sprout organically from our growing customer base (50K schools and growing strong!) so we’re looking for a naturally curious and proactive team member who can grow with our business.

We are a distributed team with offices in California & Kiev, Ukraine. However, it is preferred that candidates live in the Bay Area. Even better if close to our Menlo Park, CA office!

What You’ll Do

  • Create and manage new hardware design & sustain current hardware projects
  • Manage teams of electrical, mechanical, and firmware engineers, to ensure that all specified requirements have been verified or validated prior to production launch
  • Hands-on work in either mechanical or electrical engineering
  • Own prototyping strategy & help advance current prototypes to commercial launch
  • Participate in design reviews for validation and verification testing
  • Enforce standard procedures and practices to meet customer driven deadlines
  • Provide technical guidance into product development strategy, as necessary
  • Contract with manufacturing firms to develop and execute manufacturing plans
  • Ensure communications with product management, sales, support, and engineering

Who You Are

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Previous experience with medium-high volume consumer electronics
  • Prior working relationships with China manufacturing
  • 5-10 years of experience in hands-on electrical or mechanical engineering
  • 2-3 years of experience managing electrical engineers

Nice To Haves…

  • Previous startup experience (even better if EdTech!)
  • Experience in/Passion for K-12 and/or higher education
  • Prior experience in managing remote teams
