About the Role

We localize our products into 13 languages besides English, reaching users in 195+ countries. Strava’s Project Manager Localization QA will work closely with marketing, product and business teams to evangelize the importance of global thinking in every step of the development process, and to facilitate the localization of everything Strava produces. We are looking for an enthusiastic, resourceful, and proactive teammate who is effectively working across team boundaries and across different time zones, and under time pressure. For this role specifically, we’re looking for an individual who is versed not only in the Localization Project Management part but has previous experience scoping, developing and implementing solid L10N QA concepts, tools, and processes in cooperation with internal development teams and translators.

The primary focus of this role will be the on-going quality-assurance aspect of localized content for all Strava products, as well as supporting the daily task management as required. Currently our team is responsible for localizing our product and mobile content into the following thirteen languages: German, French, Spanish (Spain), Spanish (Latin America), Dutch, Italian, Portuguese (Portugal), Portuguese (Brazil), Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese & Russian.

What You'll Do

Prioritize, prepare and manage significant volumes of translation-related work tasks, ensuring on-time and high-quality deliveries. This involves working closely with internal teams, a larger number of freelance translators, as well as our localization vendors on a daily basis, across different time zones.

Primarily focus on and manage the translation-related in-app and web quality control of our product

Long term focus on the implementation and fine-tuning of Localization-QA processes and toolsets to ensure a high-quality localized web and app experience for our athletes

Support/Supervise our time-critical L10N continuous translation workflows, helping where required

Promote international implementation aspects and considerations across the internal organization

About You

3+years of Localization Project Management and Localization QA experience in a software or tech-related field

Proficient with localization and project management tools, preferably Transifex, JIRA, and Asana

Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle for mobile & web platforms from an I18N/L10N perspective, specifically L10N/I18N QA processes, testing, processes and standard methodologies

Ideally past experience implementing or improving L10N QA processes in medium sized company

Experienced working closely with product management, marketing, and engineering organizations

Ability to perform well and stay calm and confident under time-related pressure or fire-drills.

Confident in working simultaneously with individual translators and vendors in multiple time zones

Strong attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality

Curiosity for language, culture, regional nuance, and the desire to continually build empathy

Comfortable working in a constantly evolving environment where ambiguity and short turnaround schedules are the norm

Proficiency in one or more languages, other than English, strongly preferred

Eligible to work in the US

In light of the global pandemic, Strava is currently working in a fully remote capacity. As always, we remain committed to fully supporting our employees, especially their mental health and wellbeing, through these challenging times. Despite challenges in the world around us, we are continuing to grow camaraderie and positivity within our culture and we are unified in our commitment to becoming an antiracist company.
