Software Engineer (Elixir)

Statuspal is looking for an (Elixir) software engineer to develop new features and help maintain our Elixir/Phoenix-based incident communication & monitoring platform to provide the best service to our customers.

• Are you a software engineer capable of taking on a lead role within Statuspal by working directly with our CTO?
• Are you capable of receiving high-level requirements and turning these into actionable tickets that will be performed by you or other team members?
• Do you have an entrepreneurial spirit and ideally have worked in a startup or on your side projects and built products from the ground up?
• Are you self-driven, highly motivated, and not afraid to say when you don't understand a requirement?

About Us

At Statuspal, we build real-time incident communication and monitoring tools for startups and enterprises. Our main product, Hosted Status Pages, enables our customers to efficiently and proactively communicate outage and maintenance events in real-time across various channels (Email, SMS, Slack, Discord, etc.).

What you will be doing at Statuspal

• Take responsibility and ownership of the product development
• Design, build, test, deploy and maintain applications to support our incident communication and monitoring platform
• Contribute to the evolution of the platform through strong architectural design
• Develop standards, tools, processes, libraries, and frameworks that facilitate the development of reliable, secure, performant, and consistent services
• Identify and resolve issues related to scalability and performance
• Review pull requests and mentor less experienced developers on the team

What you bring

• 4+ years of professional software development experience with Elixir/Phoenix or similar (Ruby/Ruby on Rails, Python/Django)
• Experience working with REST APIs, web frameworks
• 2+ years of professional experience with Javascript, jQuery, Bootstrap, and React
• An appreciation of functional programming and a strong desire to become an expert Elixir programmer
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ideally, you also bring

• Experience with CI/CD, linux servers administration, cloud computing, Docker
• Expertise in Elixir or other functional programming languages
• Experience with OTP and distributed Erlang nodes
• Experience with Ansible, Kubernetes
