Engineering Manager / Tech Lead (Remote within Canada)

As an Engineering Leader, you will a hands-on manager of a high caliber full-stack engineering team to deliver high-quality SaaS products to the market. You will lead the technology R&D, design, engineering and devops teams working directly with the company founders, product managers, and the business teams.

Our ideal team member for this role would be a successful, top-performing backend or full-stack engineer who has developed/delivered several high-quality software products, and can inspire and mentor other engineers to be equally successful. You will be our first management hire in Canada who will help in building a great engineering team and will be part of the high growth career trajectory along with the founding team.

Like every successful engineer at StatsLateral, you will need to be a problem solver, quick thinker, enthusiastic, and passionate about the web and SaaS. All of our offerings are delivered as software as a service via the web. Our technology stack includes Node.js, Python, Django, Java, PHP, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and ecosystem integrations with Google, Facebook, and other platforms/APIs.

This is a remote position for candidates who are currently based in Canada, ideally, based out of Toronto, ON.

- BS/MS in Computer Science (or related field and considerable coding experience)
- Strong communication, leadership, and people management skills
- High EQ along with the strong problem-solving skills
- Top-notch coding skills, with experience in backend and/or full-stack development
- 6+ years of experience writing code professionally (preferably SaaS and web applications)
- Deep experience working on both front and backend development tasks and code designs
- Aptitude and desire to learn new technologies. Experience with any specific technologies (e.g., Python) is not a requirement; we're looking for people with a history of leveraging modern tech stacks to create great products.
- Familiarity and experience with the Agile methodology is a plus.
- Experience working with API ecosystem, Facebook, Google/YouTube, and other social networks (Snap, Pinterest, Twitter) is a plus.
