Our Infrastructure team is looking for an enthusiastic system administrator with a background in Unix/Linux and macOS system administration and an interest in cloud technologies, devops and networking.

Working as part of the global Infrastructure team, you will assist with the design, implementation and daily operations of Squiz’s critical internal systems and services.

You’ll work in a Linux/macOS based environment managing hardware and software from a variety of vendors, and work as part of a small team while also having many opportunities to operate independently to solve challenges in a 24/7 web environment.

The role

Using your system administration skills, you’ll help build, operate and enhance Squiz’s internal systems and services.

Key responsibilities:

* Manage and support our fleet of Macs
* Manage, support and extend our Jira environment
* Manage, support and extend our GSuite environment
* Maintain and upgrade servers, firewalls, wireless access points and switches as required.
* Perform macOS, Linux and Windows system administration and scripting to improve our ability to manage and automate our internal systems.
* Help to troubleshoot issues across our internal systems and services - hardware, software and networking.
* Help document current and future configuration processes and policies
* Work with internal teams located in the United States, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
* Provide on-the-ground support at Squiz's Melbourne data centre

Requirements

Mandatory:

* Excellent team communications, particularly with remote team members
* Positive attitude and strong work ethic
* A keen interest in learning about SaaS applications, web hosting, networks and servers
* Ability to work proactively with minimal supervision
* Located in Melbourne
* Willing to go on-call and work out of hours as required
* Willing to undergo a government security clearance, if required

Highly Desirable:

* Ability to write clear and thorough documentation
* Experience working and managing SaaS and On-Prem systems such as Jira and GSuite
* 1-2 Years experience working with Linux servers or equivalent study
* 2+ Years experience with managing a fleet of Macs or equivalent study
* Can demonstrate scripting or development experience (e.g. Bash, Python, PHP)
