We are seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer to manage our devops function and to collaborate with our lead developers and product owners to automate the management of our e-commerce platform and production environments. The Lead DevOps Engineer will manage our AWS infrastructure and services and the security and availability of those systems and services. The Lead DevOps Engineer will help us drive improvements to the software development and deployment process of our home grown e-commerce applications and services. The Lead DevOps Engineer will provide guidance on platform solutions and best practice to our product engineering team and drive efficiency. The Lead DevOps Engineer will manage a small team.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, able to drive tasks to completion independently, and able to learn new skills on the job as project requirements expand. This candidate should possess a technical understanding of DevOps technologies, be highly results driven with a sense of urgency and have a collaborative approach to problem-solving.

This position will be responsible for the following:

Managing our AWS infrastructure and services, availability, security, DR, logging, monitoring and alerting
Managing our incident management process, escalation, root cause analysis and mitigation
Architectural guidelines vis-a-vis our infrastructure (compute, storage, containerization, serverless, etc.)
Site performance dependant upon infrastructure, including caching, network latency, storage latency and compute performance
Implementing automation tools and frameworks (CI/CD pipelines, orchestration, etc.).
Analyzing code and communicating detailed reviews to development teams to ensure a marked improvement in applications and the timely completion of projects.
Collaborating with team members to improve the company’s engineering tools, systems and procedures, and data security.
Optimizing the company’s computing architecture.
Conducting systems tests for security, performance, and availability.
Developing and maintaining design and troubleshooting documentation.

Who Are We Looking For?

If you have the following background, we are looking for you!

You possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field.
You have 10+ years experience in DevOps and Infrastructure or equivalent engineering role.
You are an expert in configuration management tools (Puppet, Ansible, and Chef).
You have experience in network, server, and application-status monitoring.
You have strong working knowledge of cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
You possess a strong command of software-automation production systems (Jenkins and Selenium).
You exhibit expertise in software development methodologies.
You have working knowledge of Ruby or Python and known DevOps tools like Git and GitHub.
You have a working knowledge of databases and SQL (Structured Query Language).
You possess a problem-solving attitude.
You can work independently and as part of a team

Candidates with these skills would move to the front of the line:

Hands on experience working with or building e-commerce products or platforms
Experience with agile software development methodologies like Kanban or Scrum
