A Day in the Life of

You will help change the landscape of the small-sat industry, be an integral and unique part of a close-knit team of individuals operating in a high energy environment, changing the fundamental fabric of how humanity puts things into space. As the Director – Government Business Development, you will be responsible for shaping the sales road map with government entities and bringing government revenue to the company. This is a full-time position located in Washington, DC, or anywhere that is strategically favorable for the role.

Your Mission:

  • Primary focus: leading pursuits, building customer relationships with key government groups and identifying new opportunities
  • Winning new business
  • Perform market analysis, strategic development, managing the execution of the strategy, and monitoring progress toward organizational objectives
  • Researching and reaching out to organizations and individuals to find new opportunities
  • Management of capture and proposal activities, specifically for government business, including gate reviews, pursuit status, teaming decisions, pricing and win strategies
  • Providing analysis and strategic leadership enabling the organization to understand important quantitative and qualitative factors in the development of business and portfolio analysis, key customer needs, and other overall market and technical environmental analysis
  • Develop capture plans for opportunities and formulate a go/no-go strategy for each
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Finance and Management to craft suitable proposals that suit the long-term vision of the company
  • Negotiate and review customer contracts

You Have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Political Science, Engineering or a relevant field
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic planning or business development, or equivalent military leadership experience preferred
  • Understanding of government contracting and acquisition processes (FAR)
  • Extensive government contacts in multiple agencies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of business development processes, pursuit development, proposals and negotiations
  • Excellent presentation, writing and communication skills
  • Willingness to travel

Strongly Desirable:

  • Prior experience in small satellite or associated aerospace endeavors
  • Experience negotiating contracts and reviewing agreements
  • Senior level military, government, or related business experience
  • Acquisition experience with U.S. Armed Forces, National Guard, Foreign Military Sales, NATO procurement, or similar government entities
  • Startup experience
