A Day in the Life

You will help change the landscape of the small Satellite industry while being an integral and unique part of a close-knit team of individuals operating in a high energy environment, changing the fundamental fabric of how humanity puts things into space. As a IT Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for identifying, researching and resolving technical issues and be a critical part of our systems deployment and growing infrastructure of our launch testing facility. This is a full-time position located at our test facility at Spaceport America.

Location: Near White Sands Missile Range and Las Cruces, New Mexico

Your Mission:

  • Support the Information Technology Department in all areas
  • IT Security concerns and best practices must be paramount in all job activities
  • Support the deployment of new equipment and technologies alongside troubleshooting existing systems and end-user issues
  • Respond to telephone calls, emails, and user requests for technical support as well as document, track and monitor the problem to ensure a timely resolution.
  • Interface with users, identify and resolve problems, escalate unresolved trouble tickets as appropriate, and track calls
  • Install, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot various computer systems and applications in a Microsoft Windows, Mac, and Linux environment
  • Support end users with company services on mobile platforms and devices
  • Support end users with Office 365 issues, requests, feature implementations, and usage
  • Utilize help desk ticket system (Spiceworks) by inputting, updating, and closing tickets
  • Work with Technology staff to field trouble tickets and service requests
  • Assist with support of VOIP phone system and telephones
  • Distribute PCs, Macs, and laptops and provide account/system on-boarding to new users
  • Maintain site computer hardware and component inventory and asset tracking
  • Plan, design and implement special projects at the direction of the IT Staff
  • Implement, support, and maintain computer networks at the direction of the IT Staff
  • Maintain, monitor, and support VM infrastructure
  • Assist in improving the efficiency of the IT Dept.
  • Execute critical system updates and security enhancements
  • Prepare documentation related to IT policies and procedures
  • Assist in the maintenance of site security and surveillance systems

You Have:

  • A passion for IT and Customer Support
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to logically define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Capacity to work on multiple tasks simultaneously with regular interruptions
  • Ability to complete tasks effectively within a reasonable amount of time
  • Ability to follow and apply specific IT policies
  • Power to proactively acknowledge when there is a problem
  • Desire to actively look for ways to help the end user
  • Familiarity with computers; experience with office productivity suites and web-based applications
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work in a team environment
  • Analytical, structured approach to problem solving
  • Strong writing skills and a desire to diligently document common processes and procedures
  • Desire to gain experience as an IT professional
  • Ability to work in a very fast-paced and dynamic environment, while managing multiple projects/priorities
  • Aptness to aid with IT projects as needed
  • Eagerness to fulfill other duties as assigned

  • Must be US Citizen or Green Card Holder
  • Must pass background check
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation
  • May be required to work at height
  • Must be able to climb ladders or stairs to reach objects; comfortable with heights
  • May require extensive kneeling, bending, walking and/or standing for long periods of time
