Spin operates electric scooters in cities and campuses nationwide, bringing sustainable last-mile mobility solutions to diverse communities. Recognized for its consistent cooperation and collaboration with cities, Spin partners closely with transportation planners, elected officials, community groups, and university administrators to bring stationless mobility options to streets in a responsible and carefully orchestrated manner.

Based in San Francisco, Spin is a diverse team of engineers, designers, urban planners, policymakers, lawyers and operators with experience from Y Combinator, Lyft, Uber, local and federal government, and the transportation advocacy world. Spin was known for launching the first stationless mobility program in Seattle, and has since expanded to become the exclusive electric scooter partner in mid-sized cities like Coral Gables, Florida and Lexington, Kentucky, and one of a few permitted scooter operators in large cities like Denver, Detroit, and Washington, D.C. The team embeds in cities and neighborhoods to understand their specific transportation needs, and hires locally from the community.

Spin is expanding quickly and looking for top-tier talent to help us bring affordable and accessible transportation options to cities and define what future safe streets will look like.

About the Role

Spin regularly communicates with our riders through emails, push notifications and in-app messages, and every message is an opportunity for us to leave an impression and contribute to a one-of-a-kind Spin rider experience.

It’s important that all of our communications are cohesive and on-brand, and that’s why we’re hiring a Writer, to help us write and review messages that will be sent to our riders around the world. 

Our ideal candidate loves to read, write, and explore creative ways to communicate ideas. Every day, this person will be reviewing and editing copy to be sent out to riders, so our ideal candidates must be accountable and know how to manage multiple deadlines at once. 

This position will be on the Rider Communication team, reporting to the Rider Communication lead.

* Work with Local General Managers to edit and write updates and messages to our riders
* Design email and push notification messages that each are effective pieces of content
* Review communication performance to improve the effectiveness of future messages
* Support additional copywriting needs across the company
* Design each email and push notification as a carefully and artistically crafted pieces of art

* Professional writing experience
* Experience writing messages to consumers
* Experience working on projects with multiple stakeholders
* Experience managing multiple projects at once
* A copywriting history and a portfolio of written work
* A respect for clear, concise, and artistically crafted messaging
