In this role, you’ll own digital design for the Sonder web and app products across platforms, as well as for connected home initiatives. You’ll report to the VP of Product & Engineering and work closely with the COO and other leaders and executives in the organization. This role requires that you participate heavily in the strategic effort of framing and prioritizing work on the digital product. You will also be hands-on with digital design taking an iterative approach to implementing effective user experiences with beautiful interface design. In this role, you’ll spend time concepting new products and features. You’ll also be iteratively evaluating, testing, and improving the existing product to meet the evolving needs of the Sonder team and Sonder guests.


You have at least 5 years experience shipping work as a digital designer and leading teams. You may have a background at an agency, in-house, or at a startup. You went to school for Design, Architecture, and/or you have an Engineering background (ME, EE, CS, HCI) and ventured into Design.


• You’re an expert in Sketch (comfortable with nested symbols and responsive design)
• You’re an expert in Adobe CC Design tools (ID, AI, and PS with bonus points for AE, XD)
• You have experience creating thoughtful and thorough user flows
• You have experience prototyping in InVision or similar to share user flows (prototyping interactivity in Framer, Principle, or other tools a big plus)
• You have experience designing for mobile and understand the capabilities and constraints of web and mobile code
• You have experience writing simple HTML, CSS and languages like JavaScript (other web languages are a big plus)
• You have an exceptional understanding of color, composition and typography
• You are interested in emerging user interface technologies and connected home


• You have a strong point of view towards your approach to product design
• You have experience with qualitative user research and testing
• You have experience designing for scalability
• You keep up to date on tools and methodology in digital product design
• You’re able to work within an established brand language and interpret that visual language when it needs to be extended to unforeseen use cases
• You thrive in ambiguity, are biased towards action, and know how to balance collaboration and taking ownership
• You’ve worked out considerate animations in web and app that benefit user experience


• You enjoy collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams on strategic direction
• You enjoy collaborating with the Engineering team to build and QA digital product
• You have leadership experience in content (e.g. leading a project team)
(managing direct reports is a must, experience hiring product designers is a plus since you will need to hire your team as the company grows)
• You have the ability to juggle and prioritize multiple initiatives
• You are a clear communicator and are good at setting and managing expectations
