Solugen is a YC/venture-backed post-series A biotech startup that replaces petroleum-based products with bio-based substitutes, starting with hydrogen peroxide. The award winning technology was developed in-house by a team of doctors, scientists and engineers from MIT.

Peroxides are everywhere: they’re used to disinfect and clean many of the surfaces you encounter everyday; they’re used to make the plastics in the chairs you’re sitting in; they’re used to etch the a7 chip on your iphones, they’re even used to clean the food and water that you consumed today. But the dirty secret is that it’s extremely capital expensive to make peroxide with an end product that’s contaminated with a high level of dangerous impurities. Worse, because of the petroleum-based chemistry used to make peroxide, one facility explodes per year!

So we made a better process, using biology. We’ve created the world’s first peroxide made from plant material, calling our product Bioeroxide. We sell our Bioperoxide into a variety of markets including water treatment, oil & gas, remediation and hard surface applications.
We are rapidly expanding our sales team and need a dedicated Sales Development Representative to prospect and qualify leads to pass to our Business Development team.
If you’re interested in entering the sales field, the Sales Development Representative level is where you start. This position has significant growth potential at Solugen.
The SDR is the initial business contact for prospects and is responsible, following lead generation, for the next phase of client acquisition. SDRs educate prospective clients about Solugen and schedule discussions for our Business Development Executives. Expect to make a lot of outbound calls and send out a lot of carefully worded and typo-free emails.

Responsibilities:

• Assisting marketing, including lead-generation and qualification, primarily using online resources
• Cold calling prospects via telephone and email
• Following up with prospects and answering questions via telephone and email
• Create and prioritize target prospect lists
• Scheduling discussions for our Business Development Executives
• Following up with prospects
• Assisting with training and onboarding of new SDRs
• Pursuing opportunities for account growth and new business
• Communicating feedback from sales prospects to the sales team
• Understanding our capabilities and services, and effectively communicating them to the market



Desired Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree
• 1-3 years experience in investment banking, consulting, private equity, and/or another high growth startup
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Proven track record of effectively interacting with senior management
• Effective, versatile and action-oriented
• Excellent communication skills
• Expert Excel and Powerpoint skills
Salesforce.com experience a plus
• Chemistry and biology knowledge a plus
• Desire to work at a high growth, early stage company
• Good sounding board for others in the company — provide open, honest feedback
• No ego — help the team understand what’s going right and what’s going wrong
