The Role

Smart Transport Hub (STH) is a dynamic and innovative transport consultancy providing our public and private sector clients with support in delivering transportation related services. Here at STH we have extensive experience in working within the transport industry, we understand the needs and requirements of our clients and are on hand to deliver high quality successful projects.
With a growing pipeline of new projects and clients, we are now looking to expand our team by recruiting an Associate Director in Transport to lead on this development and growth and deliver multiple projects. The candidate will assume responsibility for financial control, quality and technical input/output.

Our Smart Lenz sensor and data portal uses the power of cutting-edge AI techniques to support and empower our clients as they aim to create and deliver sustainable, zero carbon transport networks.

As an Associate Director, you will directly support and report into the company Director and be the key point of contact for clients. With our growing consultancy work and growing roll out of our permanent Smart Lenz sensors and data portal, you will be required to grow both parts of the business. Using your personable and business development skills, you will build a network of clients who trust your expertise and believe in our products. The successful candidate must establish new relationships and grow existing ones across the UK. Being able to display experience in the transport industry and selling complex technical products for a company within its early stages and strong growth expectations is very important.

About the successful candidate
We are looking for a dynamic, innovative, customer-focused, and personable individual to join our ambitious team. Project and priority management, excellent communication skills and attention to detail are key to the success of this role. The role will have business development targets, as well as be required to manage a small team so you will be required to work collaboratively and independently in order to develop relationships with your clients and team. The ideal candidate will be required to:
• Develop and run new initiatives and actively pursue opportunities through business development.
• Work on funding and grant opportunities to support the expansion of our innovative Smart Lenz data portal and VECC Sensor solution.
• Lead on projects including: Active Travel and data monitoring strategies, Low Traffic Neighbourhood design, School Street Designs, Parking and Highways projects.
• Understand how AI can support the delivery of enhanced innovative technology solutions to expand the VECC sensor and data portal solution we offer.
• Day to day supervision and management of technical staff and the co-ordination of resources and projects.
• Project managing / directing projects in accordance with Client requirements.
• Provide technical direction on projects and high-level advice on complex technical issues.
• Ensure all new jobs are set up on the company systems and monitor weekly information provided against key indicators.
• Ensure all project files are up to date and comply with the QA system.
• Put together pitches/ demos and presentations for potential new clients, existing clients and industry wide exhibitions and conferences.
• Hit revenue and business development targets set providing continual updates.
• Accurately report your pipeline to your manager, seeking support where required.
• Deliver an excellent client journey and experience.
• Develop and expand the team and develop staff in accordance with the Training Plan and the Company’s Career Development procedures.
• Oversee and support the marketing for this part of the business.
• Assist in bidding process for new projects ensuring you understand and can display dealing with complex and challenging tender opportunities.
• Ensuring that projects are managed within their respective budgets and invoicing is up to date in line with client requirements and agreed schedules.
• Deliver award winning projects.

Requirements for the role:
• Degree or equivalent work experience
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in dealing with Local Government or working within Local Government.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong presentation skills to audiences of all sizes and levels.
• Experience in managing a team.
• Have a good understanding of budget control and management.
• Have an excellent understanding of current Local Authority pipelines and projects including Low Traffic Neighbourhoods and Active Travel walking and cycling schemes.
