First Engineer

Skillist is looking for its first engineer to join us in building the world’s first skill-based, identity-blind job application system. This is an opportunity to build a category-making product that will provide greater access to career-advancing opportunities to millions of jobseekers.

We launched the first version of Skillist in April 2018, and are now trusted by companies such as ezCater, Toast, and DraftKings. We proved our value low tech. Now we need to build the right tech.

Our first engineer will:
- Make decisions about the architecture and technical stack for the new Skillist product
- Develop an incremental migration plan from the first version of Skillist (built on no-code programming language, Bubble) to the new system
- Develop the new Skillist app based on these key decisions
- Execute on the migration plan and launch the new Skillist platform

You will be a good fit if you:
- Are excited by our mission and are ready to join and grow with a fast-paced startup
- Have strong technical experience building modern, scalable web applications
- Have built new "green field" systems, individually or as part of a team
- Can collaborate on making forward-thinking, foundational decisions about our tech stack
- Are proficient in at least one programming language as well as front-end web development
- Are proficient with databases and developing complex data models
- Possess strong communication skills on both technical and business topics
- Are organized and self-driven. This means you take end-to-end ownership, and will work to find a way to deliver on a project by its deadline.
- Can deliver quality code with speed in the short term, while balancing forward-thinking technical decisions as we grow
