Responsibilities
• Collaborate with developers, the product team, and other designers to maintain a cohesive experience throughout our platform as features are created and iterated on.
• Work on projects throughout their UX lifecycle, from preliminary user research and IA to IxD, UX, visual design, prototyping, implementation, and testing.
• Design and document components for our design system, Monorail.
• Present designs to other designers, developers, stakeholders, and other internal teams, collecting and incorporating design feedback for iteration.

What to Expect from Us:
• Challenging Problems: We design complex enterprise software that comes with unique requirements. Common problems we deal with include live data visualization, team management, and scheduling.
• Feedback: Our UX team both praises and critiques aggressively. We’re honest with each other and openly review work throughout the UX process.
• Variety: New features, redesigns, new patterns, component updates, there’s always something new to work (or rework) at SimSpace.

What We Expect from You:
• Demonstrated UX Experience: We want to see a portfolio of creative UX designs for complex applications. Particularly in an enterprise/B2B environment, or for security products.
• Design Software Expertise: You’re comfortable with some design and prototyping tool such as Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, Balsamiq, XD, InVision, Axure, etc. We primarily use Balsamiq and Figma, so experience with either is a plus.
• An ethical, empathetic approach to UX: We want to create experiences that are beautiful, but also robust and accessible. One of our main concerns currently is making sure our software is accessible.

Our Culture
• We value design. Our leadership team cares deeply about a unified experience throughout our product. User needs are heavily considered during sprint prioritization.
• Although our staff is widely distributed, both in the US and abroad, we've built a strong UX team and culture at our company headquarters in Boston's Seaport district. UX applicants should either be Boston-based or open to relocation.
• We’re playful. Paint night the first week of every month. Talented bakers that also write Haskell. Video games and triannual dance parties.

Benefits:
• Competitive salary, equity options, and insurance (medical, dental, vision)
• Flexible hours (provided you overlap the main part of the day to interact with others)
• Work remote one day a week

Interview Process - Happy Path:

After you submit your application, our design team will review it and be super impressed with your portfolio. We’ll set up a short phone call to get to know what you’re looking for. We’ll send you a design challenge that’ll take about two hours. You’ll do an amazing job and we’ll bring you in for a half-day interview with the design team and engineering management.

You’ll be dazzled by our office, our people, and our fancy espresso setup. We’ll be wowed by your portfolio presentation, review of your design challenge, and live design work. We’ll send you an offer, you’ll accept, and we’ll get +1 person on our team! And you get a cool new job.

U.S. citizenship is required due to our existing U.S. Government contracts. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.
