Full time, Boston, MA

SimSpace is looking for a Senior UI engineer to help shape the future of realistic environments used for cyber security testing, training, and tool development.

We are seriously disrupting the status quo for Cyber Security Ranges to allow companies to better understand their risk and improve through practice and experimentation. We are a fast moving company that needs the right kind of talent and determination to join our team. We are protective of our company culture and will carefully consider how well you fit in. We’re a start-up that must ship. There are real technical challenges, but if it were easy, anyone could do it. We need your talent to succeed. We’re still small, so it’s a great time to join us.

As a Senior UI Engineer you will work with both the awesome Design Team here at SimSpace, and the Frontend Software Engineering Team. We are busy building out a living design system call Monorail, located at design.simspace.com, that you will be heavily involved in. Our goal is to really craft an awesome experience for our users. In a market dominated by clunky UIs we strive to create a product for our customers that is intuitive and helps them understand the complexities of computer security. You will be plugged into the design process with an opportunity to move into doing more design work over time.

You will:
• Work on building UI in React, TypeScript/JS, and Styled Components.
• Be deeply involved with the design process.
• Work on Monorail, our design system.

You are a good fit if you:
• Have 4 or more years of direct UI Engineering experience
• Are a self starter who can identify UI problems and quickly resolve them.
• Love crafting good user experience with animation and transitions.
• Are detailed oriented with an eye for good design.
• Enjoy building reusable UI components with simple APIs.
• Desire to grow in your design skill set with opportunities to be involved in the design process.

Your skills:
• CSS - Have a good understanding and even a love for it. We use a lot of flexbox and grid here, along with using Styled Components. This is a must.
• Eye for design - Being able to spot little inconsistencies in a design and fixing them on the fly in implementation.
• TypeScript/JS - We write everything in TS/JS. This is a nice to have, if you are not very familiar with TS or JS, we will help you skill up at SimSpace.
• U.S. citizenship as required by our existing U.S. Government contracts

• Competitive salary and benefits (medical, dental, 401k)
• Equity options in the company
• Flexible hours provided you overlap the main part of the day to interact with others
• One day a week telecommute -- we value in-person interaction
• Paid time-off

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.
