SimSpace is developing a platform that provides Cyber Security Ranges and associated tools to perform training, testing, assessments, and exercises. We've built a smart and creative team to make these use cases more accessible to more users. Now's a great time to join our diverse, fun, and flexible work environment.

We need an experienced Technical Writer to join our Engineering team. You will be responsible for the creation and publication of our customer-facing end-user technical documentation. Your time will be spent developing, writing, and publishing product datasheets, user guides, deployment guides, knowledge base articles, release notes, how-to videos and material for in-application walkthroughs. This role is based in Boston, MA and will report to Engineering leadership and product team members.

This role requires someone who is customer focused, highly organized, curious, and self-motivated to sufficiently understand the material to properly document how to use it. The information density is high and there are many technical concepts that need to be broken down and conveyed clearly. The right candidate will have extensive experience in a fast-paced and innovative development environment. Having an understanding of cyber security concepts is a definite plus. We want someone to own our documentation and make it great.

You will:
• Develop a strong foundational knowledge of SimSpace products through hands-on experience
• Complete high-quality technical documentation to meet our product schedule
• Work closely with Product Management to understand new features prior to release
• Work closely with Engineering to document new features and concepts
• Produce documentation for users, system administrators, integrators, and Customer Success
• Work closely with Customer Success to maintain a well organized knowledge base to address most frequent questions
• Deliver updates to all documentation as part of our product release cycle and to incorporate user feedback
• Plan, develop and track release notes with Engineering and Product Management
• Ensure a clean, consistent, appropriately branded experience across all documentation forms by working closely with Marketing
• Work closely on a daily basis with a passionate team of software developers and designers

You are a good fit if you have:
• 2-5 years of experience with technology companies developing, composing and editing technical content
• Experience documenting security related SaaS products
• Experience documenting on-premise server components
• Experience working for a high-tech startup company
• Proven success managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Experience writing for a wide array of audiences
• A strong sense of pride in the on-time delivery of clean, clear and beautiful documentation
• A strong sense for translating technical concepts and features into easily understood documentation
• U.S. citizenship as required by our existing U.S. Government contracts

Your skills:
• Self-starter that is highly motivated and will drive projects to completion
• Experience writing API/SDK documentation (not necessary to read source code)
• Experience with markdown (.md) formatting
• Experience with basic web design including HTML5 and CSS3
• Experience with Agile development
• Experience with documentation tools such as LucidChart, OmniGraffle, Photoshop, Confluence, Camtasia or similar screencast tools, Google G-Suite, MailChimp
• Fluent with modern team agile development tools and practices including Git, GitHub, Docker, and VMware
• Basic understanding of networking, virtualization, and security technology

• Competitive salary and benefits (medical, dental)
• Equity options in SimSpace
• Flexible hours provided you overlap the main part of the day to interact with others
• At most one day a week telecommute -- we value in-person interaction
