Sibly is looking for an experienced Director of Software Engineering who is passionate about delivering high quality software for a mission driven company. You will join a dynamic fast-paced environment and work with cross-functional teams to design, build and support scalable software solutions. As the leader of our engineering team, you’ll be critical in delivering software that improves improved people’s lives, safely and securely delivering the most accessible mental and overall wellness services. This position will report directly to the CTO.

As a Director of Software Engineering you will utilize strong management and technical competencies to set objectives, build a great team and deliver amazing software. As a creative, pragmatic and collaborative engineering leader, you will help us build not only our team but our delivery platform and frameworks. You will work with cross-functional teams, managers and engineering professionals to evolve and develop product, user experience and technical capabilities through customer-centric processes and by leading with vision.

Job Responsibilities
-Build and lead our engineering team, including front end and back end developers, architecture and data engineering
-Establish high technical standards through processes, culture, training and leading by example.
-Develop and implement a technology vision, supporting our business into the future
-Mentor and coach engineers, leads and managers to help them carve out a fulfilling career.
-Develop and establish process enabling teams to deliver efficiently while scaling
-Evangelize and uphold our cultural principles
-Partner with the CTO and Product team to define and lead the strategy and roadmap balancing short- and long-term priorities against business goals
-Design, develop, implement and manage operating policies and team agreements
-Develop budgets for approval and assure adherence once budget is approved.
-Mentor the professional development of each direct report, managers and senior ICs, through personal and performance management.
-Build strong relationships with customer teams and actively understand & partner with them as you build the best product.
-Contribute to feature development and verification to gain understanding of the deeply technical product and to keep your technical acumen sharp

Job Requirements
-Experience leading teams through the full software development life cycle including managing cross functional project teams (User Experience, Development, Quality and Automation).
-Proven track record of hiring, growing and nurturing cohesive, high performing development teams.
-Experience in software development, actual coding. Node.js, React.js, MySQL and ReactNative preferred.
-Experience building cloud based enterprise software solutions. AWS is preferred
-Experience with building a mobile application, understanding of the build and deployment processes for mobile applications
-An in-depth understanding of concepts related to software architecture, data structures, programming practices and frameworks
-Ability to work with customers, external partners, cross functional teams and internal partners and take customer-driven approach to build exceptional products
-Ability to collaborate with our business, product, engineering, design and research colleagues to discover new opportunities that benefit Sibly
-Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential
-A demonstrated ability to manage professional level employees and complex projects.
-A minimum of 5 years of experience as a people manager is required
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, critical projects is required

This is a full-time position. In 2020, this will be a 100% remote role. Company’s headquarters is located in the heart of downtown Redwood City and one block away from Cal-Train. Sibly offers a generous benefits and PTO package.
