Smart Wallets for People Without a Home

Smart Wallets for People Without a Home

Samaritan provides smart wallets designed specifically for people without a home, linking them to financial capital and relationships needed to leave the street. The smart wallets, called beacons, are licensed to municipalities and healthcare groups seeking to better care for, reduce, and ultimately, prevent situations of homelessness.

Provided freely to unhoused individuals, the beacons receive funds from everyday samaritans and organizations, redeemable for emergency or strategic needs such as nutrition, transportation, and warm clothing. Once a month, beacon holders meet with a counselor or clinician to set goals and share needs for the next 30 days ahead.

These strengthened relationships, coupled with the new access to capital, have led unhoused individuals off of the street into housing, employment and recovery.
