As a member of the hardware team, you will assist in the design, implementation, and deployment of the electronics behind wireless power systems. You will work closely with the software team to test and verify product requirements, as well as with the product and mechanical teams to ship cutting-edge technology. You will also explore new techniques and approaches to improve existing hardware through prototyping, developing proof of concepts, and investigating new technologies. The ideal candidate will have broad experience in electrical engineering with a slant towards power electronics. This role reports directly to the Director of Hardware, and requires a great deal of agency over your work. You will have the opportunity to greatly influence the direction of the product, develop your technical knowledge, and use your creativity and curiosity to solve problems and add value to our product.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in electrical system design, analysis, schematic capture, prototyping, debugging, test, and support for multiple systems
  • Design and test various DC-DC power converters for a wide range of power levels from 10uW to 10W
  • Work with the product and integration team to determine the power regulation needs and implementation for a variety of PCBs
  • Perform component selection and BOM cost engineering
  • Assist with system integration
  • Design and test digital and RF circuits
  • Design and simulate maximum power point trackers
  • Investigate and experiment with new techniques to improve our fundamental performance

Qualities & Experience

  • Must be comfortable assembling down to 0201 surface mount components and performing PCB rework.
  • Experience using spectrum analyzer, VNA, signal generator, oscilloscope, and logic analyzer
  • Experience in designing, fabricating, and debugging digital, analog, and RF circuits
  • Knowledge of standard DC/DC converters, their strengths/weaknesses
  • Knowledge of high efficiency resonant DC/DC converters
  • Maximum power point tracking
  • Control theory of DC/DC converters
  • PCB layout experience, preferably in Altium
  • Circuit simulation experience
  • Filtering concepts and analog implementation
  • Knowledge of RF engineering concepts and components
  • Ability to improvise solutions from available materials
  • Capable of learning on the fly and rapidly acquiring new skills
  • Strong communication and organizational skills to work collaboratively within a close team setting
  • High degree of pride taken in work
