At Quine we're building a platform to algorithmically quantify software engineering experience from code and open source metadata (you can read more about our thesis here 👈). We're a small interdisciplinary team who are obsessed about building the data and credentialing layer that will support the labour markets of the future. Quine is headquartered in London, but operates remotely from five different countries.

About the role

We're looking for an experienced Frontend Engineer to help us build delightful and compelling user-facing interfaces. The ideal candidate should have a keen eye for design and for meticulously crafted web interfaces while also striving to create high-quality, modular, and maintainable code. You will join a small interdisciplinary team in which you will be responsible to build exceptional user experience that will ultimately serve software creators and the open-source community.

Your responsibilities

> Develop fast, scalable and responsive frontend solutions.

> Architect high-quality and reusable front-end systems that drive complex web applications.

> Collaborate with our Designers, Product Managers, and Software Engineers to deliver delightful and compelling user-facing products.

> Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues.

> Ensure that web pages are optimised for a variety of devices (i.e. smartphones, tablets, and desktop computers).

> Create rich and interactive applications for displaying complex data.

Basic Requirements

> 3+ years of experience as a front end engineer.

> Deep understanding of key design principles.

> Proficiency with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.

> Proficiency with at least one CSS framework such as Bootstrap, Foundation, Bulma and so on.

> Understanding of server-side CSS, Ajax, and partial page updates.

> Experience with Angular and/or React.

> Experience with implementing responsive and adaptive designs.

> Experience of working with CI/CD and TDD practices.

> Fluent with SEO principles and best practices.

> Enthusiastic about Open-Source technologies and developer communities.

> Good problem solving skills.

> Ability to collaborate optimally with other teams and communicate clearly about your work.

Ideal Candidate

⇒ Bachelor or Masters degree in CS, Design, or related field.

⇒ 5+ years of experience as a frontend engineer.

⇒ Shipped multiple products using Angular and/or React.

⇒ Proficiency in multiple typesetting languages such as SASS, Less, and TypeScript.

⇒ Experience with frameworks for data-visualisation web frameworks like D3, Processing, and WebGL.

⇒ Creative problem solving and proactive imagination for new features.
