Interested in joining a mission-driven nonprofit company focused on building online educational tools powered by machine learning? We’re looking for a fall Outreach and Operations Intern to support our teachers and answer their everyday questions.

At Quill, we’ve created an online learning platform to help K-12 students improve their writing skills. Our pedagogy is based on years of research that shows that once students understand the logic behind constructing sentences, their ability to read and write improves dramatically. Unlike common multiple-choice-based learning tools, our tools allow students to practice writing sentences and passages in their browser while still receiving real-time, focused feedback.

Here are some facts about Quill:

- We have served over 1 million students last year, and our impact is steadily increasing.
- In April 2019, we won a grant from Google’s AI for Social Good initiative (blog.google/outreach-initiatives/google-org/ai-impact-challenge-grantees)
- We were named one of Fast Company’s Top 10 Most Innovative Education Companies in 2018: bit.ly/2G7IExb
- Some of our funders include the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, AT&T, Black Rock, and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.

The Position
The Quill Outreach and Operations Intern will work with the Outreach Team to engage with teachers across the country and work with them as they learn how to use Quill. Your primary responsibilities entail engaging with teachers firsthand; you will answer their questions via an online messaging service and on the phone, record video tutorials for our site, and attend conferences to help teachers.
Throughout the fall, you will also learn how teachers and students are using Quill, generate ideas for how we can improve our tools to further aid grammar instruction, manage the teacher network, and add support materials to our database. In addition, you will help us reach more teachers through online marketing.

What Will You Be Doing?
Answering day-to-day questions from teachers and students
Helping run Quill’s social media accounts, including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Pinterest
Collecting feedback from longer-term Quill users and assisting new teachers with onboarding inquiries to improve their Quill experience
Building our community by engaging with educators online
Assisting Quill with sales operations
