Quartzy is looking for a VP of People to help us build and scale a world-class business and culture. As the VP of People, you will be responsible for driving the people strategy in support of Quartzy’s values. You will have broad responsibility over all HR functions, be a strong advocate for employee development, be a driver of organizational change and improvement, and provide leadership across the organization. This is a hands-on, solution-focused role for someone that wants to help drive business results by supercharging our ability to attract, engage, and develop the best talent. You should be accustomed to building processes where there are none and have an unlimited supply of patience and perseverance with a good sense of humor to get the job done. This role will report directly to the CEO and function as a strategic business advisor to each executive leadership team member regarding key organizational and management issues to maximize the level and effectiveness of the organization’s people.

What you'll do
- Serve as the subject matter expert in People Operations and HR, advising the leadership team on strategic decisions related to scaling the company, organization development, hiring executive leadership, among other initiatives
- Work directly with the CEO to build out our executive team while continuing to source and attract high quality and diverse talent at all levels
- Cultivate a performance-based culture including a processes for regular reviews, employee development, and up-leveling of high performers
- Build out a competitive total rewards package with a fair compensation philosophy and attractive benefits that emphasize employee wellness
- Act as a champion of our culture and core values and enable all employees, regardless of location, to be a part of the Quartzy community

What we'd like
- 7+ years of progressive HR experience managing multiple facets, including total rewards, culture, employee development, and a strong emphasis on recruiting
- Experience scaling a tech start-up from 50 to 200+ employees
- Proven track record of implementing key HR systems and processes (performance management, total rewards, HRIS, etc)
- Strong foundation of business fundamentals in order to help drive key business metrics forward
- Well developed analytical, unquestioned integrity and a confident presence to effectively resolve sensitive employee issues
- Proven ability to influence and inspire change across the company at every level
- Willingness to get hands dirty and ability to scale: You need to be able to do the hard work yourself, but also scale your efforts through effective training of the management team. You must be able to teach others to fish.
- Clear opinions and a bias towards action; we want a builder not a maintainer
