SUMMARY

The Head of Product is responsible for directly impacting the top-line and bottom-line growth of PrettyLitter through the construction of compelling consumer experiences across web and mobile.

As Head of Product, you will work with the CEO to develop a product and growth strategy for PrettyLitter’s ecommerce footprint and formulate a roadmap to bring that strategy to life. You will be required to roll up your sleeves and ship features and experiments directly, establish a product management practice from the ground up and eventually transition to managing others. Ambidexterity between delivering individual contributions while creating highly leveraged managerial structures to enable others' success in their job as it relates to Product is fundamental to the success of this role.

Central to this role is the ability to understand the jobs-to-be-done of pet ownership and address them directly with compelling ecommerce experiences.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Own the roadmap and performance of PrettyLitter’s consumer-facing presence across web and mobile: You will work with the CEO and stakeholders across the company to develop ecommerce strategies and be responsible for delivering on the roadmap.

• Improve mission-critical KPIs through rigorous experimentation: Work cross-functionally to curate ideas, design experiments and ship A/B, and multivariate tests across the entire web experience.

• Generate, design and facilitate qualitative user studies: Work cross-functionally to design and execute user studies that dig into the “why” behind customer behavior, identify patterns and transform them into actionable features and experiments.

• Support Stakeholders: Collaborate with marketing, ops, CRM, and customer service to ensure website functionality above and below the visibility line is supporting initiatives across the company.

• Lead the operating cadence for the team: Leverage Agile Methodologies (we’re a Kanban shop) to ensure initiatives are executed in a timely and efficient manner.

• Ideate, Test & Ship new features and experiences that improve Conversion, Retention and Upsell.

• Saas metrics typical of any subscription business, including but not limited to: acquisition, retention & monetization.

• Progress on roadmap vs commitments.

WHAT IS REQUIRED

• Customer-Obsessed: Your desire to create value for the average customer borders on obsessive. Determining what moves the needle in a family’s day-to-day interactions with their pet is what drives your product decision-making.

• Learning Machine: Consumes and distills new information voraciously, climbs learning curves with speed. We should feel like we would have a hard time keeping up with you and be compelled to level up our game as a consequence.

• Systems Thinker: You can parse signal from noise, extrapolate the underlying pattern, identify the sensitive inputs & weightings and generalize to other contexts.

• Foresight: You are able to balance the needs of the present without jeopardizing or constraining optionality in the future. You can play out the multi-round consequences of available paths or tactics, take the long-term view and do not make a habit of cutting corners.

• Stellar User Research Chops: You are not afraid to dig in and unearth the underlying causal mechanisms that drive adoption, usage & retention.

• A Strong Eye for User Experience: Must be able to communicate using design tools like Sketch, Figma, or the Adobe Suite.

• Web and Mobile Experience: Direct experience leading teams to develop and launch compelling consumer experiences across web and mobile. Must be ambidextrous across mobile and web, with a strong preference for mobile-first.

• Technical Knowledge: Must be familiar with the latest ecommerce and marketing technologies including Shopify, Klaviyo, Zendesk, Google Tag Manager, RJMetrics, etc.

• Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills: Especially in creating detailed, crisp business requirements, functional requirements and user stories that can be used to create product specifications and architecture for each product.

• Leadership: Prior experience recruiting, hiring, managing, and developing product management talent.
