We're a fast paced, high growth B2B software company, headquartered in Sydney, Australia - and we're building a data team!

We're looking for people who live and breathe this stuff. Passionate engineers who will be working with a variety of teams to build data infrastructure and to providing mission critical data across the business.

Ideally you've had experience with this before - taking a number of connected (and sometimes disconnected tools), working with teams and internal stakeholders to identify requirements to satisfy internal reporting needs.

Currently we're using Segment, Stitch, Mode and Amplitude. It's your job to take us to the next level. As the first dedicated member of the data team, you’ll have a key role in shaping our data tech stack.

We’re headquartered in Sydney, Australia however we do support remote work and currently have offices in Melbourne, Brisbane, London, Toronto & Seattle.

As a Data Engineer at Practice Ignition, we want you to…
Design, manage and optimise existing data infrastructure.
Work within an expanding data team, building and managing data tools used to support and scale with data needs.
Build & maintain custom data pipelines, including integrations between various SaaS apps we use in our business
Make smart decisions about when to leverage off-the-shelf tools and when to write and maintain custom code.
Enable self-serve analytics and reproducibility through thinking for the business with a problem mindset.
Work with team members in non-technical roles to understand their data-related challenges and ensure they have the right data available.
Promote software engineering best practices such as version control and continuous integration to an analytics codebase.

The abilities we’re looking for…
Proficiency in at least one high-level programming language like Python, Ruby, etc.
Strong SQL skills, with the ability to write queries to find answers to complex questions.
Confident integrating third-party APIs to enable data to flow between different systems.
Experience with Cloud Computing platforms like Amazon AWS, Google Cloud etc.
Experience creating or maintaining a star schema or similar for a data warehouse.
Experience creating or maintaining a data pipeline for a data warehouse.

It would be great if you have experience with…
Cloud data warehouses like Redshift, BigQuery or Snowflake.
ETL tools like Stitch, Fivetran or similar.
Data modelling tools like DBT or LookML.
