Overview

The Marketing Program Lead is responsible for identifying, scoping and managing initiatives that create new revenue opportunities in new or existing channels and markets. These responsibilities cover four key functional areas:

1. Marketing Program Management
2. Voice of the Customer
3. Market Data & Insights
4. Content Development
5. Team Leadership & Development

The role will work cross-functionally with key internal stakeholders including sales, business development, product, and finance to drive initiatives through ideation, development, testing, go-to-market and commercialization, as well as externally with merchants, resellers and other strategic partners through requirements to adoption.

Responsibilities

Marketing Program Management

* Lead a range of marketing programs focused on the introduction of new service and solution offerings outside of the core roadmap, creating new revenue streams enabling additional cross-sell / up-sell opportunities for existing customers and provide additional value for new customers.
* Create and manage the lifecycle for new service and solution offers from concept, through commercialization, through launch and evolution, to hand-off to the larger product organization.
* Own all aspects of offer creation including market analysis, requirements, pilots, marketing planning, pricing, sales enablement, customer engagement, and ignition strategies.
* Document all stages for programs managed in order to provide a clean and timely handoff to product and engineering.
* Develop and implement an agile feedback loop enabling more real-time access to pilot and early stage releases to the field.

Voice of the Customer

* Lead all initiatives associated with the Voice of the Customer for our key customer segments (merchants, resellers, app developers) ensuring a consistent approach and outcomes are achieved.
* Create a Voice of the Customer plan detailing goals, objectives, events, outcomes (measurement & reporting) and schedules
* Drive the execution of the plan through the implementation of monthly, quarterly, and annual activities and events including “listen & learns”, advisory sessions, roundtables, and surveys.
* Report on the outcomes of the voice of the customer activities in a way that informs decisions cross-functionally, and make recommendations for current and future initiatives driven by the programs team.

Market Data & Insights

* Own the market data and insights function creating a repository of information and data used as the “single version of the truth” for the company.
* Define requirements for market data and insights and create a plan to meet these requirements.
* Identify and make recommendations on the acquiring reports, data and other paid information sources from 3rd party vendors.
* Review and report on market trends and insights each quarter, including making and informing recommendations to company leadership on key initiatives.

Content Development

* Develop a content plan, by marketing channel, by solution, by audience which will inform the broader marketing roadmap
* Create content for pre-release and early release stages of the marketing process for all solutions formulated out of the programs function.
* Draft and deploy the initial marketing and sales enablement deliverables (sell sheets, presentations, battle cards, digital copy etc), iterate through initial launch and pre and  deliver content to other functions in marketing as part of a hand over when a solution is launched fully.

Team Development & Leadership

* Initially an individual contributor, the goal is to build a small programs team once the function is established, key objectives met and as the need identified.
* Establish the Marketing Programs function based on key milestones and objectives and clearly demonstrate value creation based on revenue attainment.
* Identify the key roles required within the team to achieve success and scale.
* Work with the head of marketing on a staffing plan tied to meeting key goals.
* Recruit and retain top tier talent for roles identified within the team.
* Provide the leadership, empowerment, and opportunities for development required to maximize the potential and retention of each member of the team.

 

Qualifications

* Ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and proactively collaborate with cross-functional internal teams.
* Ability to work with key external stakeholders (merchants, resellers, partners, industry)   across all levels of an organization to maximize their contribution to related programs.
* Analytical and data-driven, capable of establishing key metrics as well as interpreting data to support recommendations.
* Proven ability to effectively manage programs and projects with cross-functional teams.
* Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
* Positive, proactive and able to always exercise great judgment in an often hectic and demanding start-up environment.
* Must have a global mindset and have the ability to think at-scale.
* 10+ years of experience in marketing programs management, product marketing, or customer marketing, preferably at a high-growth company.
* 5+ years of experience in building, developing and managing teams.
* Experience in, or a strong understanding of, the broader FinTech and payment industries highly desirable.
* Bachelor's degree in marketing, business or related disciplined. MBA preferred.
