What’s happening at Popspots?
Popspots is a retail technology company that’s making it easier for retailers and brands to market and manage their products in-store. Our custom hardware and software tracks product availability, while also serving as a digital advertising space (Grocery TV). We recently raised a $5M Series A round led by Silverton Partners and were named one of the top 50 companies to work for in Austin. Most importantly, we have strong values that set us apart from other companies in Texas, including a commitment to transparency, ownership, putting people first, and teamwork.
Why you are important to us:
We are searching for a Data Analyst to join our team to help turn the troves of data we collect from grocers, brands and our growing network of Grocery TV displays into exciting new products and actionable insights. This position will report directly to the Director of Analytics and regularly work with other functional teams across the company including Engineering, Operations, Finance, Sales, Accounts and Marketing. There will also be plenty of opportunities for client-facing work!
You will be the primary driver for managing and maintaining our data. This includes the development and execution of data-intensive workflows to support new and existing products. In addition, you will leverage machine learning and statistical methods to interpret and analyze our data to find valuable insights for both internal and external stakeholders.
You will also contribute to Popspots's company culture, values, and vision for the future. This is a great opportunity to be a founding Data Analytics team member!
Are we describing you?
You're the right person if you are passionate about turning data into exciting narratives and visualizations to help convey the meaning of that data in a powerful and compelling story. You are also looking for an opportunity to learn, build, optimize, and grow in your career in data. You have an optimistic outlook and are comfortable adapting to change.
You’re known for your ability to multitask, prioritize, meet deadlines, and communicate expectations. When something’s not going as expected, you feel comfortable working out why, and applying your learnings quickly to resolve the issue.
You'll be a great fit if you have...
- 2+ years of relevant experience (work experience preferred, but a strong portfolio of side projects is OK too!)
- A passion for telling stories with data, both written and verbal
- Working knowledge of SQL, R and Python
- Solid grasp of statistics, machine learning, optimization, and forecasting
- Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Looker, or D3
- Effective communication skills and can explain technical concepts to non-technical people
- The ability to work in small, fast-moving teams and thrive in a start-up environment
- Interest in retail technology and/or the advertising industry
