A lot of companies would spend this job post telling you how unique your devops work will be at their company, but we're not like that. Here at Pleo, we work in a transparent and honest environment, so bear with us for what might be the worst selling in job post history.

Let's face it, you're an SRE: the holy grail engineering right now. You're the senior, specialised (wo)man who builds the things that every good tech company needs. We all need you, Pleo is no exception.

After all, you are the engineers who build the ecosystem. You build our world so that we can build other stuff in them. You set the constant of gravity, the pH of the soil, and the proximity of the sun to our world.

And no matter where you work, this is what you'll be doing (minus the God-complex, hopefully!). So we know, SRE work (like gravity) is pretty constant across organisations, so why would it be more exciting to be building a world of fintech when you could be building a fantastical, non-existent gaming ecosystem?

Actually, it might not be - depending on you. If you want to create magical worlds that don't exist today and won't exist tomorrow, go get that gaming company. You'll love that!

We're a stark opposite. We're as real-life as it gets. Basically we need our world to exist to try to change workspaces for tomorrow (you know, the space that most adults spend most of their time thinking about). We think the way that most of us still work today is outdated, and think that it can be better. Here at Pleo we work on painful problems that we see today, we give those problems a touch of magic, and try to delight tomorrow's employees.

Our angle to do this is through company spending; we build a product that gives trust and autonomy to all employees: everyone gets a company card and spends company money responsibly. That's our focus.

This will interest you if you actually care - and want to do something - about the way people work today. Think of topics like advocating remote-work (we all have some element of remote work in our lives at Pleo - some are 100%, some are flexible), using latest technology, caring about constantly improving your craftsmanship, experimenting with flat hierarchies, that type of thing.

We can't be hypocrites with a product doing one thing and then internally doing another: so the future workplace permeates through the way we work. We certainly aren't perfect, and we're not striving for perfection. Instead, we're striving to be pioneers: we want our product to change workspaces, and so our own workspace is a place of constant change.

The quick things to know that might actually be different about our devops working style at Pleo is that there are only two SREs at Pleo right now. You'd be the hot third. This can be cool because you will play a big part in building our world: you will make more than a small dent. We've also managed to create a sexy PCI-DSS compliant infrastructure that runs on Kubernetes in the Cloud. I've heard you might like that.

So if I haven't been able to put you off entirely, apply. We've tried to make applying as efficient as possible. Pop your GitHub/ LinkedIn, write a quick Hi! and tell us your why for applying, and you're done.

(Cover letters and formal CVs aren't necessary.)

The nitty gritty skills needed
* You understand Linux internals and networking
* Are able to navigate in the AWS API and you know a couple of their services off by heart
* Have Bash experience
* And Kubernetes experience
* And also have a working knowledge of at least one new programming language
* You're used to testing and monitoring your own solutions (sloppiness leads to downtime and downtime leads to :sad-parrot:)
* Find out that you keep fixing the same problems, and then you take time to automate this for future relief.

We'll geek out if you
* Have experience in Terraform
* Worked with compliance before
* You've managed large systems (hello scale!)

Your mom says you
* Work in IT (moms!)
* Were building complex LEGO models as a kid
* Probably went to extra maths classes
* Make her proud (a mom-style must!)

Show me the benefits!
* Your own Pleo card (no more out-of-pocket spending)
* Ability to work remotely (anywhere between east coast of the Americas to European timezones)...
* ...or onsite if you want to (Copenhagen or London)
* Flexible working remote options for those onsite (just speak to your team)
* Quarterly trips to somewhere for team camps (both company-wide ones and team-specific ones). Last one was in Berlin in June. Supergeil!
* Investment in learning & developing (just check with your team for what's reasonable, we don't have set budgets)

And here are some other nice gestures that we do
* Catered lunch in our HQ and London offices
* 25 days holidays (annual)
* Loads of weird and wonderful niche communities to join in the company (we're talking guerrilla gardening, liquids tasting, the Pleo band, learning to code initiatives, that type of thing)
* Wild enthusiasm and encouragement from us if you want to host MeetUps, events, etc - we'll help (venue, food etc)

Working at Pleo means you're working on something very exciting: the future of work. Through fintech we've seen a way to impact how people work; we think company spending should be delegated to all employees and teams, that it should be as automated as possible, and that it should drive a culture of responsible spending.

Being HQ'd out of Copenhagen means we're inspired by sensible things like a good work-life balance. If you don't work in the office with us we'll help you get up the best remote set up possible, and will fly you in once a quarter for team camps.

Sometimes, we write about things we care about
