Empowering teams with EHR data and collaborative tools to drive clinical outcomes
Strategy and Operations Lead$60k – $90k • 0.0% – 0.5%
The Strategy and Operations Lead will help the company think strategically across functions like Marketing, HR, Strategy, and Business Development, but ultimately be scrappy and manage the key tactical issues too.
Phrase Health is an early-stage health IT company providing analytics software to hospitals to improve their electronic health record (EHR) systems so they can provide better care to patients and better experiences for clinicians. Because of significant traction with customers and potential partners, Phrase is now at an inflection point across sales, hiring, product, and partnerships. The company is in need of a jack-of-all-trades to propel us into the next phase of growth.
The role is challenging because it requires flexibility to be successful. In one moment, you might be leading a meeting with management and making edits to a proposal for a new strategic partnership. Later that day you might be parsing through interview notes from clients so you can develop thought capital for business development. You will be given ambiguous, challenging problems and need to be a self-starter to tackle them. While you’ll be given significant independence, ultimately you’ll get mentorship from management who have backgrounds in strategy, technology, and medicine. The types of people that will succeed in this position might be strategy or management consultants, product managers, associates in venture capital or private equity, or other professionals in a strategy role.
The future of this position is malleable. As the company grows, this person might have the ability to fill a need in the company he or she finds interesting and grow/manage that team. The person who wants this role is interested in applying his or her broad business acumen and/or learning the fundamentals of building and scaling a high-growth business.
The key capabilities for the role are:
- Industry analysis
- Project management
- Research and analytical skills
- Analyzing data sets for insights in Excel
- Drafting storylines for presentations and then building them in PowerPoint
- Desire and ability to learn quickly
- Self-starter; comfortable with ambiguous, challenging problems
Nice to haves
- Healthcare experience
- Technology and analytics experience
- Financial modeling experience
- Exposure to HR, Business Development for Enterprise B2B, and/or Marketing

One of our founders just had a child (yay!) and has been able to stay at home with his daughter as much as he likes. Moreover, that includes working from home whenever is convenient.
In addition to cash remuneration, we hope our new employees also own the company and have as much passion for it as we do.
We enjoy getting together in the office, but sometimes life requires us to camp out at home for the day (or week).
Work hard, play hard. If you believe in the company and our team like we do, we'll have to remind you to take time off!
"phrase praise" pizza parties!
We recognize the importance of celebrating personal or professional wins and are quick to send "Phrase Praise" each others' way. What better way to acknowledge that than a team pizza party?
Keep it casual
When we're with clients, we keep up appearances. Otherwise, some of our best work might come in a t-shirt and sweats.
