About this role
Particular Audience is a multinational AI startup headquartered in Sydney, Australia. Based in Sydney, our big data and AI platform team is made up of leading big data and machine learning engineers. As we enter a period of rapid growth, we are now looking to expand the team.

AI interested software engineers are encouraged to apply and will have the opportunity to work on and shape our cloud-based infrastructure, data pipelines, AI systems (collaborative filtering, NLP and computer vision) and online user experiences.

Excellence in backend development and a flare for front end is a must.

We are looking for an energetic problem solver who isn't afraid of tackling tasks outside of their comfort zone, a self-starter who is willing to learn new technologies, and is excited by the prospect of automating AI systems.

Responsibilities

• Client integrations into our existing SaaS platform
• Develop new user-facing features
• Build reusable code and libraries for future use
• Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability
• Collaborate with other team members / stakeholders / sales / business development
• Set design requirements based on information from internal teams and user research
• Identify new product improvement opportunities
• Analyze how a new product satisfies market needs and consumer preferences

Required Skills

• Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3
• Basic understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS
• Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including React / Typescript and vanilla JS
• Experience in backend languages such as Python, Java or Go
• Good grasp of data structure and algorithm theory
• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer
• Proven experience in all phases of the design process including user research, copywriting, wireframing, prototyping, visual design, interaction design, and usability testing
• An intuitive eye for customer needs beyond the obvious
• Excellent attention to detail

Desirable Skills

• Machine Learning knowledge and deployment experience
• Hands-on experience of with Kubernetes or similar
• Experience with Bitbucket, AWS & Azure
• Familiar with JIRA workflow, version control etc.
• Administration knowledge of big data platform
• Experience in operational system building
