Financial planning for every employee, everywhere -- we're hiring!
Product Manager$30k – $70k • 0.01% – 0.15%
1. Why should I work at Origin?
Let’s cut to the chase: the top reason to work at Origin is that you want to build great products at an industry-changing company.
You will build state-of-the-art products from scratch and have an outsized impact on our product decisions. You will be part of an all-star team of product managers & designers reporting directly to Origin’s CTO, who has 10 years of experience as a co-founder and product leader at venture-backed companies.
Origin is not your standard startup. It has raised over 10M dollars and is backed by some of the world’s best investors. Its founding team is comprised of serial entrepreneurs who have done it before and want to do it better. This is a unique opportunity to work at a hyper-growth high-potential Silicon Valley company while staying in Brazil, close to your friends and family.

2. What does Origin do?
Origin is a financial well-being platform that partners with employers to keep employees happy, healthy, and on the road to financial success. We believe that protecting your assets, family, and future shouldn’t require a Ph.D. in finance, so we built a company that puts financial management on autopilot. We are the only holistic financial benefit that helps employees create personalized financial plans, manage their student loans, 401k, savings & debt, and get access to on-demand financial advisors.
3. What will my day be like?
Product managers at Origin have a lot of freedom to decide how they spend their time, but ultimately they are responsible for making sure we work on the 2-3 projects that will matter to the company.
Since you will be supporting two fast-moving engineering teams, 70% of your time will have to be spent on researching our domain, benchmarking competitors, documenting our product, doing customer interviews, parsing market data & scanning the endless directions we could go. You will use all that input to come up with the core hypothesis we need to prove as a company, which will finally get translated into the major projects the teams you work with will push over the line.
20% of your time will (unfortunately, we know) be taken by meetings. You are expected to over-communicate with your designer partner and with the engineering managers of the teams you work with, preventing bottlenecks and making sure projects are delivered on time & with quality. You will also join the rest of our rituals, be it daily standups, our weekly all-hands or our biweekly sprint planning, plus an individual one on one with our CTO every other week.
The remaining 10% of your time will be dedicated to keeping (and raising) the product bar inside Origin. You will do design reviews, take part in product discussions, recommend books & articles to your colleagues (and read their recommendations), interview candidates and raise product problems before those happen.
4. What else will I love about Origin?
Origin’s culture is unlike most startups (and next-to-all big companies) in Brazil. We give, receive and act on feedback all the time, holding no grudges and keeping no filter – all of us are aligned around the same mission and have the same objectives. We value work-life balance, so we do not track hours and have an open vacation policy. We know knowledge workers like yourself need to rest and take breaks, so we expect your time in the office to be time working so your time away can belong entirely to you. We keep a quiet environment and avoid interrupting each other. We go straight to the point and talk about problems when we see it.
Origin also offers:
- Competitive salary
- Meaningful equity package
- Health, vision and dental annual stipend
- Mental and physical health annual stipend
- English tuition
- Office at the best Wework in the city
- New Apple gear
- Open vacation policy
- Flexible hours
- Regular off sites
5. Who is Origin looking for?
Origin's mission requires us to build multiple consumer-facing products in a regulated fault-intolerant industry. We won't accomplish that without having a product team that is customer-centric to a fault, putting themselves into someone else's shoes and innovating into a foreign domain. This hasn’t been accomplished before for a reason, and we will succeed only if we build a team with never seem before determination, flexibility, intellectual rigor and excellence.
So you need to be a great product manager who is:
- Incredibly smart
- Intellectually rigorous, especially with regards to attention to detail
- Relentlessly resourceful
- A natural, trustworthy leader
- A concise communicator who gives and receives feedback all the time
- A model professional
- Technically excellent
- A good English speaker; and,
- Willing to live in the biggest city of the Southern Hemisphere, São Paulo.
