1. Why should I work at Origin?
Let’s cut to the chase: the top reason to work at Origin is that you want to be responsible for ambitious tech projects at an industry-changing company.
You will run superstar teams, build state-of-the-art products from scratch and have an outsized impact on the fate of the company. You will be part of an all-star team of managers reporting directly to Origin’s CTO, who has 10 years of experience as a co-founder and a technology leader at venture-backed companies.
Origin is not your standard startup. It has raised over 10M dollars and is backed by some of the world’s best investors. Its founding team is comprised of serial entrepreneurs who have done it before and want to do it better. This is a unique opportunity to work at a hyper-growth high-potential Silicon Valley company while staying in Brazil, close to your friends and family.

2. What does Origin do?
Origin is a financial wellness platform that allows companies to help their collaborators put their financial lives on track. We’re the only platform in which employees can easily manage their savings, 401k, insurance, and student loans.
We believe that protecting your assets, family, and future shouldn’t require a Ph.D. in finance. Origin leverages technology and financial expertise to build a benefits platform that has the users' best interests in mind. No middlemen. No confusing terms. No complicated jargon. Just simplicity.
3. What will my day be like?
Engineering managers at Origin have a lot of freedom to decide how they spend their time, but ultimately they are responsible for getting better outcomes from their teams, meeting present-day output demands while improving the performance over time. That translates into devoting most of your efforts to people, processes and purpose.
Working on people means giving feedback incessantly, raising Origin's cultural and technical bar, helping teammates grow, being a source of emotional stability and hiring & growing great people.
Working on processes is coordinating well with other teams, learning from past mistakes, making good & fast decisions, being on top of projects and planning for tomorrow.
Working on purpose means motivating your team to achieve its goals, getting people to the same page and helping your teammates understand Origin's goals, culture and priorities so they are empowered to make good decisions.
A lot of your time will (unfortunately, we know) be taken by meetings – we expect you to be great at running your team's. You will also join our weekly all-hands and will have an individual one on one with our CTO every other week.
4. What else will I love about Origin?
Origin’s culture is unlike most startups (and next-to-all big companies) in Brazil. We give, receive and act on feedback all the time, holding no grudges and keeping no filter – all of us are aligned around the same mission and have the same objectives. We value work-life balance, so we do not track hours and have an open vacation policy. We know knowledge workers like yourself need to rest and take breaks, so we expect your time in the office to be time working so your time away can belong entirely to you. We keep a quiet environment and avoid interrupting each other. We go straight to the point and talk about problems when we see it.
We also offer:
- Competitive salary
- Meaningful equity package
- Health, vision and dental annual stipend
- Mental and physical health annual stipend
- English tuition
- Office at the best Wework in the city
- New Apple gear
- Open vacation policy
- Flexible hours
- Regular off sites
5. Who is Origin looking for?
We have a growing all-star team of engineers. We need all-star managers to help them be even more successful. That means you need to be a natural leader who:
- Communicates directly & often;
- Has managed effective teams before;
- Is relentlessly resourceful and intellectually rigorous;
- Knows how to setup processes from first-principles;
- A good English speaker; and,
- Is willing to live in the biggest city of the Southern Hemisphere, São Paulo.
Also, while you don’t need to know the technologies we are currently using (Django, React, Typescript, Terraform) nor be the best engineer in the room, you do need to know how to code to be able to follow conversations.
6. How do I apply?
Interested? Just apply here or email our CTO at firstname.lastname@example.org – you won’t ever have to talk to a recruiter and we promise we will get back to you quickly.
