As the Opentrons Test Engineering Manager your role will include both technical execution and team management. You and your team will be responsible for rigorously testing electromechanical products through design, planning, execution, and analysis. You will collaborate with hardware, software, product, and science teams to meet specifications for Opentrons robots, pipettes and modules.

Responsibilities:

- Recruit, hire, train and manage a multidisciplinary team of test engineers to evaluate hardware products for performance, reliability and lifetime throughout the product development life cycle.

- Develop process and supporting documentation for test design, test planning, data collection and data analysis.

- Maintain test equipment, software, materials and other lab resources necessary for the operation of the team

- Prioritize testing resources and team’s workload

- Compile, analyze and present findings to support learnings from testing.

- Collaborate with the Hardware, Software and Science teams to make recommendations on improving quality in design and manufacturing of current and future products
Design and build test fixtures for use in product development as well as production
Work alongside mechanical, electrical and software teams to diagnose customer-related issues in the field

Requirements:
3+ years designing electromechanical test systems or similar
Experience writing Python scripts
Experience with Solidworks or similar CAD program
Clear and concise written and verbal skills
This role includes travel to Shenzhen, China in order to set up, troubleshoot and supervise machine assembly, testing or quality control
Must be excited to learn new technical skills and problem solving techniques while working with interdisciplinary teams (proactively)

Bonus:
Experience using or designing robotics or CNC machinery
Experience with Arduino, Raspberry Pi or similar
Prior management experience
