We're a Tech for Good start-up that makes volunteering and receiving help simple
React Native Developer£35k – £55k • 0.5% – 2.5%
Fantastic opportunity to join a fast growing Tech for Good start-up.
onHand is a marketplace app that allows people to give and get help, whenever and wherever they are. We’ve enabled “on-demand volunteering” and are now partnering with local authorities to help the UK fight back against COVID-19, with ~8500 app downloads and rising. Our focus is using the app to match volunteers with older adults who need help with basic tasks like shopping, medicine drop-offs and basic phone support. In doing so, we believe onHand can help address the growing care crisis facing our ageing population and maybe just leave the world a better place too.
We're a 2018 graduate of Facebook's LDN_LABs Accelerator programme (others include Olio and Goodgym) and, whilst the service has only been live since the start of last year, demand is far outpacing our expectations. Our App is live and performing robustly, but it is v1: given the demand we seeing, now is the right moment to invest in technology to enable scale.
You’ll be the third dev to join our growing tech team and at the heart of how we use tech to engage, onboard and match members of our marketplace community. If we are successful, we expect to grow very quickly, expanding across the UK and then internationally. The scope for personal and professional growth for any team member joining us at this stage should be tremendous.
What we’re looking for
We are looking for a frontend React Native developer with proven technical and analytical capabilities. Someone who can balance designing and creating robust, scalable and well-tested code. You will be a key member of the team, responsible for designing and developing new features for our iOS and Android apps. You need to be dynamic, collaborative and curious, as you’ll work in a fast-paced environment where continuous experimentation and innovation are expected. We’re working fully remote for the foreseeable future, so we’re location agnostic, making regular communication a critical part of working with our great dev team.
NOTE: You can apply even if your experience and interests aren't an exact match with what we've laid out in this job description. We’re building something different at onHand and if you’re interested, we want to hear from you. We value great programming principles and best practice, and an analytical, problem-solving mindset that wants to grow with us.
