The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) is the nation’s largest for-hire transportation agency, licensing and regulating the City’s yellow and green taxicabs, for-hire vehicles (including apps like Uber, Lyft, Via and Juno), commuter vans, paratransit vehicles, and luxury limousines.

Housed inside the agency is a rapidly growing innovation team that challenges the agency to operate more efficiently, be more transparent, and provide human-centric services.

The Role
We are actively looking for a Deputy Director to function as the Research Lead and Data Product Manager. In this position you will have an opportunity to manage a team of Data Engineers, Scientists, and Analysts, set the vision for research projects and data product development, and rethink the way the agency reports data to the City of New York.

What You'll Do
• Develop the vision and strategy for the Data & Research team
• Translate that vision and strategy into concrete roadmaps, goals, and sprints, and lead your team to deliver
• Work across teams/divisions to pave a way for your team to be successful

About You
• ♥♥♥ data!!!
• 2-3 years of data analysis experience in a fast-paced environment
• Able to self-motivate and motivate a group
• Strong SQL & Python knowledge
• Interested in making information and insights accessible to a broad audience
• Some familiarity with multivariate analysis & modeling
• Experience working in an agile environment
• Knowledge of interface design and data visualization
• Knowledge of best research & experiment design practices
• Strong project management and systems thinking to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and complex organizations
• Detail-oriented critical thinker able to use data and problem-solving skills to propose solutions and run with them
• Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills with experience facilitating meetings and communicating plans and decisions
• Interest in rapid experimentation and trying new approaches & techniques
