Our flagship mobile app follows along as the user reads aloud from a print book, playing music, sounds, and character's voices in real time to complement the story and create a magical experiences, kids, families, and teachers love.

The Role:
Novel Effect seeks a talented web front end engineer to join our growing team of passionate and creative people, in Seattle, WA. The ideal candidate should be capable of thinking critically about a problem and delve deep to solve it, and is not afraid to look under the hood of any open source technologies they are using. As a member of the dev team, you work closely with audio designers and UI designers to create innovative and quality solutions in a dynamic startup environment. Available as full-time or contract.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
-BS or MS in Computer Science or related STEM fields.
-3+ years experience with data intensive and high performance web front-end development.
-Familiarity with data storage and streaming backends.
-Track record of delivering technically challenging and innovative products, ideally in tech startup environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
-Familiarity with contemporary JavaScript framework (e.g. Angular, React, Vue)
-Strong understanding of web application security (e.g. XSS, CSRF, CORS)
-Familiarity with object-oriented design and RESTful web services
-Familiarity with at least one back-end programming language, e.g. Java, -Ruby, Python, PHP, C#, or Node.js.
-Experience architecting large-scale multi-tier web applications

This job is located in Seattle, WA. Authorization to work in the United States is a condition of employment. Visa sponsorship is not available.
