The Company:
Nexus Events is a quickly scaling start-up building a platform that fully virtualizes what happens at an in-person professional networking event. We have a virtual tradeshow and conference product with networking, booths and talks that creates an engaging social experience for attendees and provides an opportunity for effective lead generation for businesses.
Our founder is an engineering grad from Stanford, and helped to develop ove****r 700 companies from the pre-seed to pre-IPO stage as the founder and CEO of StartX - a startup accelerator and founder community associated with Stanford University.
As a remote company operating from 5 countries, we understand remote work and are constantly investing in our team by encouraging autonomy, clear communication, and discipline. We've recently closed our seed round and are now scaling our product and preparing to launch 50+ conferences in the next few months.
Responsibilities:
We are looking for a proven sales leader excited to close deals and build a team. In the first few months you will work with our current pipeline of professional conferences and developing strategies to expand the pipeline. As we grow, your role will shift to focus on mentoring and build your world class team. As the owner of our sales function, you will begin to develop a weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales cadence. In your highly visible role you achieve ambitious revenue targets as individuals and a team.
Specifically, you will:
- Work with our CEO and leadership team to identify potential customers, designing a sales funnel, running leads efficiently through it and optimizing
- Then initiate outreach to customers, develop relationships, negotiate and close deals.
- Within your first year you will shepherd deals that are already in the pipeline and help us close 10+ deals in your first month.
- You will also have an opportunity to influence product and company-level strategy in support of business development, for example identifying key features and business opportunities
Skills and Experience:
- You have successfully sold B2B software solutions, it’s a plus if you have done so in the setting of a multi-sided marketplace.
- Create contacts in the conference industry to drive lead generations and continue growing your network
- You are a smart agile and creative thinker with plenty of energy and motivation to get the deal done.
- Articulate/great communicator: communicates well internally (to engineers and PMs etc.) as well as the customer or partner (which may include legal, engineering, etc.).
- Creative problem solving for complex deals. You push the envelope on what is possible and are willing to make ambitious asks of the partner or client on terms.
- Able to close deals. You have a history of closing multiple complex deals in a short time frame with creative or aggressive terms.
- Structured / can run a deal process. You will be expert at shepherding all internal and external stakeholders through the various phases of a deal from ideation, pitching negotiating, structuring, closing. You will mine a list of prospects, aggressively frame negotiations, and set up internal prep meetings before calling external parties.
- Detail oriented, even on legal details with great follow through.
