The roles of the Business Analyst is to drive and compile research that supports the financial and market analysis assumptions behind deals, support the implementation of business strategy, and build relationships on behalf of MAI Capital. To work alongside a high performing team managing investment, finance, taxation, budgeting and feasibilities while co-ordinating with internal and external consultants and stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

TECHNICAL
- Stay up to date on recommendations, policies and plans for the economy, corporate strategies and investment dealing with China and Australia and incorporating into feasibility studies for projects
- Assist with marketing, distribution, and sales for funds management capital raising
- Preparing project investment models using Microsoft Excel
- Undertaking detailed market research into financial markets, consumer trends, analysing these trends and advising MAI Capital on economic issues such as taxation levels, prices, employment and unemployment, imports and exports, and interest and exchange rates related to project deals
- Preparation of pitch material for investor and client presentations
- Providing innovative approaches to investment structuring including foreign investment and tax treatment considerations
- Providing and implementing strategy for effective ways to allocate capital resources
- Assist in the preparation of financial and economic document for investment terms and conditions
- Follow up consultants and supplier for deliverable and updates
- Funds Management experience or strong knowledge of how Funds operate
- Collaborating across different teams to pursue company goals
- Chinese speaking, or strong willingness to learn, and deep understanding of Chinese and Australian culture and business acumen
- Breadth of understanding of programs on economic growth, welfare, education and training in the Australian and/or Chinese market across key industry sectors; Real Estate, Food & Beverage, Hospitality, Retail, and Agriculture
- Proactive attitude towards relationship building and maintenance
- Build strategy, design selection and due diligence process, and establish relationships for potential acquisition projects in Australia and China


FINANCIAL
- Support greater business goals and work to achieve monthly department goals
- Modelling feasibility report and profit report for investors, clients, and MAI Capital
- Assist Managing Director and Deputy Managing Director in ongoing communication with investors, clients, and Board Members to ensure their satisfaction with progress on investments
- Manage and liaise with internal and external team to develop detailed investment and project program and support documents
- Review and analyse Tender and recommend consultants and suppliers
- Review legal document for engagement of consultants and suppliers
- Review and monitor project program on regular basis
- Analysis and recommend internal actions for project problem solving utilising formal risk and issue mitigation process
- Prepare investor and client meeting agenda to ensure an effective outcome of the meeting
- Stay on forefront of compliance with latest requirements for project finance, tax, and fiscal policy and update with the internal team

REPORTING
- Forecasting changes in the economic environment for short-term budgeting, long-term planning and investment evaluation in China and Australia
- Regularly brief the Investment Manager on project progress related to finance and investment issues, finance and investment strategy, finance/project delays and achievements, feasibility, due-diligence and plan for action
- Follow funds management processes and procedures for timely and accurate funds management reporting
- Recommend action to the Investment Manager on investment risks and/or issues
- Provide monthly updates on department budget vs. actuals by project


JOB REQUIREMENTS

Software, Knowledge, and Experience
- Advance MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Proven organisational skills
- Team attitude with appreciation for mentoring and staff development
- Ability to translate strategy into operational plans
- Facilitate and maintain effective and professional liaison between internal and external parties
- 1 - 2 years’ of corporate finance experience
- An understanding of debt and equity
- Strong business acumen across economics, finance, operations, marketing and sales
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills
- Degree qualified in a relevant commerce, economics, or finance related field
- Experience with stakeholder management and engagement
