LeagueSide makes it simple and effective for national and regional brands to reach 35+ million youth sports families. We do this by enabling our clients such as Post Consumer Brands, Chipotle, fios by Verizon, Uber, New York Life, Smoothie King, and Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, to create high impact, targeted campaigns that drive brand awareness.

Our mission is to help make youth sports more accessible as each client engagement directly provides funds to support the league and athlete participation. To date, LeagueSide’s efforts have created opportunities for over 10,000 kids to participate in youth sports.

Our team is backed by prominent investors and advisors such as Elton Brand (GM, Philadelphia 76ers), Ronnie Lott (NFL Hall of Famer), Lindy Snider (former owner, Philadelphia Flyers), William Murphy (CTO, Blackstone), and Justin Kaufenberg (Co-founder/CEO, SportsEngine).

Role Overview:

To date, our CEO has led our sales efforts along with LeagueSide’s small and tenacious sales team, resulting in multi-million dollars in revenue. We are looking for a VP of Sales who will help to own, develop, execute our commercial strategy and build a team to support our commercial growth goals. This role is equal parts strategy, execution and team building and reports to the Co-founder and CEO.


As our first VP of Sales, you will have 5 key responsibilities:

1. Bring experience, professionalism, contacts, and can-do attitude to the organization
2. Player/Coach: achieve our revenue, profit, and account growth targets
3. Work cross-functionally to hone our ideal client profile and improve funnel metrics
4. Shape and streamline our sales infrastructure, training and process to support additional hires
5. Recruit and coach quality sales people based on the needs of the marketplace and the business

More specifically:
->Review historical sales data to draw insights on what’s worked as well as identify opportunities for sales process improvement
->Develop a data driven sales plan that is grounded in rigorous sales plan measurement and performance metrics
->Develop A/B tests to optimize different parts of the sales funnel
->Grow revenue from both new accounts and existing accounts
->Design, implement and manage sales forecasting, planning and budgeting
->Work cross-functionally – e.g.
--with the client success team to make sure we are leveraging success to expand deals
--with league inventory team to make sure we’re acquiring most appealing sponsorship opportunities
--with the product team to determine what products will get current clients to spend more or entice new clients to sponsor youth sports leagues
->Recruit, train, coach and lead a top tier sales organization
->Build a positive team culture driven based on performance, accountability, teamwork, and success
->Be a key member of the team; lead vs be led; contribute perspective and provide business acumen about growing a commercial organization

Qualities we feel like will make for a successful addition to the team:

->Experience selling to agencies as well as marketing departments at brands
->Experience selling a product or service as small as $10k per year and as large as $1M per year
->Experience taking a sales process that is “working” to a sales process that scales
->Strategic and execution oriented
->Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales quotas as well as structuring, recruiting, on-boarding, and developing high performance teams
->Low ego, team player with strong ability to collaborate across functions
->Analytical and data driven; good at seeking, synthesizing and acting on data
->Process orientation that drives specific and consistent sales methodology across all stages of qualification and nurture
->Natural leader and team motivator
->Effective communicator, with gravitas and executive presence, able to interact at Board level when necessary
->High IQ and EQ; confident and takes it upon her/himself to be fully accountable for the success of the team and removing friction from the system
->Results oriented: takes ownership and accountability for delivering on company forecasts and goals
->Ability to attract and maintain “A” players on the team
->High integrity
