Intelehealth is a non-profit committed to improving access to primary health care in underserved regions of the world through its innovative technology platform. Intelehealth can be used by health organizations to set up high quality primary health care programs connecting patients in remote and rural communities to doctors.
Our partners are hospitals, NGOs and governments mainly in low and middle income countries where health systems are fractured and there is an acute shortage of health services in rural areas. Apart from the software and devices we also provide training and implementation support to our partners to set up successful telemedicine programs.
Our beneficiaries are bottom of the economic pyramid, underserved rural populations who don’t have access to healthcare.
Our end users are health care providers from NGOs, hospitals and governments who are typically members from the rural communities trained to be a community health worker.

About the position:
We are looking for an Android Developer who possesses a passion for pushing mobile technologies to the limits. You will work closely with other app development and technical teams. Your primary focus will be the development of Android applications and their integration with back-end services. You will be working alongside other engineers and developers working on different layers of the infrastructure. Our apps have to be designed to be easy and intuitive to use for user groups who have often never used a smart phone before, easily configurable and work in very low bandwidth settings. Therefore, commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and creating quality products is essential.

Responsibilities:
Designing and developing advanced applications for the Android platform
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
Work with outside data sources and APIs
Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability
Work on bug fixing and improving application performance

Qualifications and Experience:
Candidate should possess a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, etc. Some individuals who do not possess degree in computer science but have knowledge of the Android and Java can apply.
Minimum 2 years of work experience is a must.

Skills Required:
Essential:
Must be proficient with Object Oriented Programming concepts & Core Java.
Solid understanding of the Android Core Concepts like Activities, Fragments, Services, Intents, Broadcast Receivers, etc.
Must have basic knowledge of XML and building layouts in Android.
Must be open to learn new technologies and concepts.

Desirable:
Knowledge of working with remote data via REST and JSON.
Experience/Knowledge with third-party libraries and APIs.
Knowledge of Unit Test (Junit) and/or Automated Test (Espresso).
Working knowledge of the general mobile landscape, architectures, trends, and emerging technologies
Solid understanding of the full mobile development life cycle.
