Building the future of multiplayer
Senior Systems Designer
At Improbable, we’re bringing together technology and games to create new opportunities and experiences. In order to achieve this, we need unique perspectives from diverse people, empowered to revolutionise how online games are made, delivered and paid for.
We believe one of the biggest, most impactful changes to the way we live our lives is going to come from the medium of games. Realising new communities, societies and vocations through virtual worlds is what drives our people and gives them purpose.
You will be a foundational hire in our newly formed UK Games Studio, helping us build the next generation of Games on our SpatialOS platform.
As part of the Improbable Game Studio, you will have an opportunity to define the next generation of deeply interactive online experiences. Help us create games that allow for new depths of simulation, destruction, and physical interaction in innovative ways that are challenging the norm. Our technology allows us to experiment with genuinely new mechanics, both big and small. We're learning new skills within a massively networked environment that we believe is the future of gaming.
Areas of Impact
/ You will be responsible for designing the core game economy and loops that tie the game's systems together. Design and build for the "1000 hour" experience within the context of a multiplayer action game.
/ You’ll design a robust inventory system that allows for player growth across character and gear archetypes, all within the context of a live game as a service.
/ You will deeply understand all aspects of the game's design, stretching from moment-to-moment gameplay through to the high-level metagame.
/ You’ll Integrate the metagame into every aspect of the experience - we're building holistically, rather than trying to "bolt-on" an economy to a predefined experience. You will be an integral part of the game's core design.
We’d like to hear if:
/ You've shipped at least 1 live game in a senior systems design role.
/ You have experience operating a multi-million dollar free to play live game economy.
/ You have mastery of utilizing spreadsheets to design, model, and adjust large inventory systems that are directly related to shaping gameplay.
/ *Mobile live game experience is a plus.
/ *Unreal Engine experience is a plus.
Nb: While we think the above experience could be important, we can’t predict the future and so we’re keen to hear from applicants that believe they have valuable experience. If you identify with the team & mission, but not all of the suggestions, then please still apply!!
