Solutions to help you grow, by increasing leads, accelerating sales, and organizing your contacts
Senior Software Engineer, Rep Experience
About the team - Flywheel Product Group
We’re looking for talented software engineers to join our mission to build remarkable internal-facing systems to help HubSpot scale 10x.
HubSpot runs on HubSpot
HubSpot software (Marketing, Sales, Service) is built for business of all types, focused primarily on making tools simple, intuitive, and easy-to-use for small to mid-sized companies. HubSpot as a company is now 3,000+ people distributed globally and still growing, fast. In some areas we have urgent business needs that exceed what the product can do -- that’s where the Flywheel Product Group comes in.
Flywheel Product is responsible for building internal-facing systems on top of the HubSpot platform that enable the business to move fast, grow quickly, and be incredibly productive as we scale. We build standalone apps, HubSpot CRM extensions, sync data between systems, and whatever else we need to help the business grow.
Spinning the Flywheel
HubSpot is also throwing away the traditional “sales funnel” methodology in favor of a customer-centric “flywheel”, where the goals are to add force (by delighting customers and turning them into advocates to feed growth) and reduce friction (by making the trial, purchase, implementation, and use of the tools as effortless and impactful as possible)
We solve for the front-line HubSpot employees who work directly with customers throughout their experience with HubSpot (including Sales, Onboarding, Services, Customer Success, Support), as well as HubSpot Partners (who re-sell and onboard HubSpot customers). We also own the underlying systems (data, business logic, automation) that allow the HubSpot Platform to be nimble and adapt to a changing marketplace.
Our goal is to deliver measurable impact to the business. We work on transformational projects that help us scale the business, and we also focus on improving the usability of our UIs, making our APIs more performant, helping customer-facing teams be more efficient, and building automation to drive a frictionless customer experience.
What we’re looking for
Our ideal candidate will be:
- Interested in helping us solve internal business problems by deeply understanding the customer experience, process flows, and how front-line HubSpotters engage with customers
- Able to understand business impact and help us build solutions that will drive measurable results
- Excited to build internal systems where our customers work in the same building
- Excited to join a smart, driven, and humble Engineering team
In this role, you will:
- Write Back End code: We write lots of microservices, primarily with Java 11. Our APIs are RESTful and use the minimal Dropwizard framework. We utilize Kafka and other tools to build asynchronous scalable systems dealing with multiple sources of truth for our data.
How we think about experience:
- We are language agnostic. We aren’t overly concerned with tech stack - if you are interested in learning new things, we’re interested in teaching you.
In addition to our ParentSpot group, we offer 16 weeks paid leave to primary caregivers and 6 weeks to secondary caregivers, as well as egg-freezing benefits to help give women more support.
You don’t need to be in an office or at a desk to have an impact anymore. Employees can work fully remote from select countries, and work from home (or a coffee shop) when they need to.
At HubSpot, you decide when and for how long to take time off. Vacation can be used however you want; for tropical trips or flexible day-to-days. We also have Vacation Quota Relief (VQR) to make sure it’s truly unlimited for all.
How can we help managers build and grow great teams? HubSpot’s leadership development team provides trainings, ThinkSpaces, recognition programs, and resources for new and tenured managers alike.
After five years with HubSpot, you get a four-week paid sabbatical, with the equivalent of $5K US bonus. Some employees take vacations with their families, while others learn how to play the guitar, or enjoy month-long honeymoons.
Employee stock purchase
Employees can buy HubSpot stock at a discount from the share price at purchase. By contributing between 1%-15% of their base pay for a set period of time, the funds are used to buy HubSpot stock at a 15% discount.
HubSpotters get the equivalent of $5k US/year to spend on education. They’ve taken semester-long classes, weekend workshops, and online courses on everything from finance to design.
When you work with amazing people, it’s not hard to have a good time. From scavenger hunts and Mystery Dinners, to charity outings and museum visits, there’s no shortage of fun stuff to get involved in at HubSpot.
